Noir Romance Wedding Inspiration
“The theme was Noir Romance, a moody, intimate, after-dark aesthetic built on shadow, depth, and intention. Think less of cute Valentine’s Day and more of the moment after an incredible dinner when the night feels warm and cinematic. We fully leaned into deep, saturated tones. Burgundy, red, deep purple, and black did most of the heavy lifting. Everything else existed to support that palette, not soften it. Romance can be bold, confident, intimate, and timeless…all at once.” -Staci Mandikas, UNIQUE Weddings + Events
Offering a moody twist on Valentine’s romance, this glamorous downtown Tampa wedding inspiration featured deep shades of onyx and maroon paired with luxurious decor and an abundance of candlelight, setting the tone for an intimate and unique vibe.
“We didn’t start with trends at all; we started with a feeling. Visually, this design stands in clear contrast to Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2026, a soft white tone. But this wasn’t about pushing against anything or reacting to popular trends. The bigger message is that couples don’t have to design their wedding around what’s trending or what’s been forecasted to become popular. When design choices are made intentionally and authentically, they hold up far better than anything done just because ‘it’s having a moment.’ Strong design fundamentals will always outlast trends!” Staci Mandikas, Owner and Lead Event Planner at UNIQUE Weddings + Events detailed. “Personalization came from thoughtful design decisions, not crafting projects. Everything was intentional, elevated, and designed to feel cohesive. This approach is far more realistic for couples who want a polished result, who care deeply about how their wedding feels, not just how it looks on Pinterest. This couple is confident in their taste, drawn to strong design, and not interested in playing it safe. They want something personal, atmospheric, and memorable…and they trust the process enough to lean into it.”

Truly Forever Bridal
“We brought in modern touches where they felt natural: editorial styling, sculptural florals, a bridal cape, etc., but everything was grounded in proportion and structure so it never felt ‘too much’ or overdone.
One of my favorite style decisions was flipping expectations when it came to the bride’s attire. She wore a black gown for the ceremony and changed into a white dress for the reception. It felt unexpected, confident, and very intentional. The groom stayed classic when it came to his attire, which allowed the bride and the design to really shine!” –Staci Mandikas, UNIQUE Weddings + Events

The Inspiration
“The theme was Noir Romance – a moody, intimate, after-dark aesthetic built on shadow, depth, and intention. Think less of cute Valentine’s Day and more of the moment after an incredible dinner when the night feels warm and cinematic. The goal wasn’t to create a literal theme or holiday look. No hearts. No clichés. Just elevated, grown-up design choices layered to shift the entire atmosphere of the space.
We fully leaned into deep, saturated tones. Burgundy, red, deep purple, and black did most of the heavy lifting. Everything else existed to support that palette, not soften it. We used small touches of neutrals to give the eye a break, but this was always meant to be rich and dramatic. Black showed up intentionally throughout the design – from a black ceremony gown to black velvet wall draping, plus candlelight for added warmth, so nothing felt flat or harsh. The materials mattered just as much as the colors. Velvet, leather, satin, lace, wood, and brassy gold all added depth and texture so the design felt layered, rather than styled.
This shoot was meant to show that Valentines-inspired weddings don’t have to be sweet or predictable. Romance can be bold, confident, intimate, and timeless…all at once.” -Staci Mandikas, UNIQUE Weddings + Events

The Venue

Le Meridien Tampa
“Le Méridien’s history as the old Tampa courthouse is a huge part of what made this shoot work. On a personal note, I’ve had a connection to this building since I was in design school. Before it was restored by Marriott, I toured it as part of a historical preservation class and got to see the space stripped down to its bones. I clearly remember the marble floors, the molding, the ceiling details, etc. That experience really stuck with me. Over the years, I’ve worked in the building in different capacities and watched it evolve. Having seen it in multiple stages gave me a lot of respect for how it wants to be treated from a design standpoint.
For the ceremony, we used clear chairs so the courthouse architecture stayed front and center. Inside the ballroom, black velvet wall draping helped shift the mood without competing with the historic bones of the space. It was always about collaboration with the venue, not overpowering it.” -Staci Mandikas, UNIQUE Weddings + Events

The Floral Design
“Candlelight is absolutely key! And, we did not hold back! The quantity was 100% intentional. I learned many years ago that one way to create drama is to do a ‘sh!t ton’ of a single element. And that’s exactly what we did when it came to candlelight. To truly create an immersive atmosphere requires layering of light, height, and glow, especially in an evening setting.
Another major design decision was skipping traditional floral centerpieces on the tables entirely. The tablescape relied on candles and fruit to create depth, richness, and texture. Florals were still present, just used strategically – an extra-long bridal bouquet, a boutonniere with hanging amaranthus, and styling throughout the lounge areas instead of clustered on tables. The takeaway isn’t restraint. It’s focus. When you know what element is carrying the design, you can fully commit and let everything else support it.” –Staci Mandikas, UNIQUE Weddings + Events
“Designed as a non-traditional ceremony, the richness of the palette and glow of candlelight tell an after-dark love story rooted in bold emotion and unforgettable atmosphere. It’s a memorable bridal moment that celebrates fearless love– deeply felt, boldly chosen, and lived without regret.” -Brenda Hayes, La Maison Des Fleurs

The Planning
UNIQUE Weddings & Events
“The inspiration came from a specific late-night feeling. Low lighting, great conversation, one more cocktail, and that magnetic energy when no one’s ready to leave yet. That moment became the emotional backbone of the design. Noir Romance came from wanting to capture romance that isn’t soft or predictable, but confident, moody, and a little mysterious. It’s less about décor and more about the feeling the room gives you. The atmosphere is my favorite part, without a doubt! Watching the space transform as the lighting dropped was incredibly satisfying! It’s always a reminder that great design isn’t just about styling, it’s about how a room feels when people are actually in it.” -Staci Mandikas, UNIQUE Weddings + Events
