Larissa and Jeremy’s whimsical downtown St. Pete wedding featured white and magenta flowers, patterned GOBO uplighting, and a ceremony space unlike any other.
“We wanted our theme to embody an elegant whimsy feel,” the bride shared. “The Dali is a one-of-a-kind structure and museum, making sure we didn’t take away from its true beauty was important. Having our wedding there was something I knew our guests would never get to experience again, but to top it off they were able to view the gallery, and I knew that was going to be something they truly would remember forever!”
The Gainesville bride searched for a St. Petersburg wedding planner who had a solid vendor list and who could also assist with the design of her whimsical wedding.
“I was impressed with the examples of John Campbell Weddings‘ work. John is young and in tune with current styles. He is amazingly well connected and made great suggestions for vendors, day-of timeline, and much more. He also offers floral services, which he performed flawlessly. Having the two services together was also really convenient,” the bride gushed. “I loved John’s personality and felt like he would understand exactly what we wanted our big day to feel like. He really was the most important part of the planning and executing our wedding. Without him, it would have been a total mess, and I couldn’t possibly thank him enough for all he did for us!”
The bride and groom desired upscale dinner options that not only paired well with their elegant setting, but also something their guests would rave about.
“I ended up choosing Olympia Catering because they had worked with The Dali before and were able to offer three selections for our guests, as well as bar services, all under one contract,” Larissa shared. “I was more than pleased with their work! They brought hor d’ourves to us when we were having a quiet moment to ourselves and brought us drinks after all the family photos! Jeremy and I both completely cleaned our plates at dinner, so I guess you could say it was pretty delicious!”
Looking for something simple with a touch of glam, Larissa and Jeremy reached out to local St. Pete bakery The Artistic Whisk to create their dream wedding cake.
“I chose The Artistic Whisk because I wanted to support a young woman’s growing business,” the bride explained. “Jovana gave us lots of options for the tasting and really shined on the flavors! We chose two flavors. One to reflect our adult tastes and one to remember our childhoods. The winners were Earl Grey Cake with Lemon Lavender Buttercream and Jovana’s special Cinnamon Roll Cake. I can’t wait for our first anniversary to eat the rest!”
Forever remembering their special day, the couple cherished the endless amounts of happiness and laughter the most.
“Our photographer had a cute way of incorporating my bouquet as a ‘first look.’ He had me close my eyes and open them when John handed me the bouquet. The photos are amazing and hilarious. I was just so pumped about that bouquet,” the bride reminisced. “After we said our vows, it was time for the rings. I had a hard time getting Jeremy’s ring on and let out a nervous little giggle, well, that set off our guests, and we all had a good laugh. It helped me shake my nerves and feel much more comfortable!”
The Proposal:
For our fifth anniversary, Jeremy took me on a vacation to Denver, Colorado. On a beautiful clear day, we went for a hike at Three Sisters Park. When we reached the peak, we stopped to enjoy the view. When I turned to face him he took my hands, knelt, and proposed!
How would you describe your theme/wedding design inspiration?
Elegant whimsy. We wanted to reflect Salvador Dali and the one of a kind structure of the museum.
What were your colors?
Our colors were dark blue and pinks ranging from pale pink to magenta. It was really important to me that Jeremy wore a blue tuxedo to complement his gorgeous blue eyes, everything else stemmed from that.
What did you look for in a wedding planner?
I started with the budget. I was impressed with the examples of John Campbell Weddings‘ work. John is young and in tune with current styles. I loved John’s personality and felt like he would understand exactly what we wanted our big day to feel like. The services he provided were wonderfully professional. John was able to take on all my special requests and went above the call of duty when we needed extra help. I was really impressed with his ability to create what we could only imagine. He really was the most important part of the planning and executing our wedding. Without him, it would have been a total mess, and I couldn’t possibly thank him enough for all he did for us.
What was your wedding cake inspiration?
I wanted something pretty simple for the cake. Mostly just shimmer and floral decor, but I wanted it to be tall and thin to make it more striking!

What did you look for in a wedding catering company?
The most important thing for me was giving our guests three different options for dinner. I wanted someone who had worked with the Dali Museum before and luckily Olympia Catering was also well connected with our planner! I wanted the food to complement the elegance of the evening. Olympia offers delicious, upscale options and our guests really enjoyed the food.

How did the dance floor enhance your reception design?
Gabro Events Services laid out a beautiful dance floor for us. It was absolutely perfect for smoothing out the carpet in our reception room. It was just the right size for the number of guests we had and I was really pleased with the ability to have different size options.
What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Call John Campbell Weddings immediately! Plan as early as possible because a lot of decisions pop up near the end.
