FEATURING
This citrus-inspired spring wedding inspiration shoot beautifully merged a pastel color palette and blooming florals, crafting an enchanting garden celebration that perfectly captured the romance, joy, and freshness of the season.
“This vision encompasses the fresh, vibrant essence of the spring season, with pastel hues, blooming florals, and airy fabrics, creating a romantic atmosphere,” Kelci Zicconi, Owner, Lead Planner, and Designer of Kelci Leigh Events, shared. “We went with an Easter color palette featuring pastel orange, yellows, light pinks, and lavender.”
Inspired by the romantic, intimate setting, historical charm, pastel colors, and big-bloomed flowers, the planner and Luci Sullivan Photography teamed up with Shay Florals to create a vision that intertwined timeless traditions with current styles.
“The balancing act between timeless and current trends can be tough. There are a lot of ideas out there, and also, a lot are being overdone right now. My goal is always to execute the vision rather than trying to balance all the trends while still keeping it timeless,” Luci Sullivan, owner of Luci Sullivan Photography, explained. “For this shoot, the vision was a whimsical, colorful, and spring aesthetic, so we chose things that matched that, handwritten stationery and fruit accents tied in with the whimsical and spring vibe and flowers that were colorful but not overboard. We went with yellows, oranges, and pink hues because those feel like the colors of spring. It can be easy to get lost in all the trends, but if you have a main mood board and clear vision, you can always go back to that, and if what you’re thinking doesn’t match, then nix it. What ends up being timeless is executing a vision perfectly without trying to make it something it’s not.”
Inspired by the neoclassical architecture of the private estate Whitehurst Gallery, this shoot embraced timeless elegance with a venue that features a Blüthner Baby Grand piano, a 1920s-era Ford Model A vintage car, and a backdrop reminiscent of the Jefferson Memorial. Integrating beautiful spring florals into this neutral setting made the colors stand out more prominently than they would against a busy background.
“We chose the Whitehurst Gallery for its historical charm, beautiful architecture, and blank canvas,” Kelci raved. “The venue is perfect for an intimate setting and a small guest count who loves a play on colors.”
The ceremony featured a white metal arch brimming with vibrant flowers, set against the backdrop of ornate iron double doors and tall white columns. Rattan-backed white wooden chairs, each with a white folding fan, were provided for seating and comfort. The bride wore a simple yet elegant scoop-neck ball gown paired with lavender butterfly kitten heels featuring an embroidered garden motif. The outdoor garden reception featured pastel orange linens, light pink and lavender place settings, and gold silverware and accents. To complement the decor, each table showcased a colorful flower arrangement, taper candles in various shades, and assorted sliced fruits to enhance the citrus theme.
“We wanted to keep it minimal and clean but still remain elegant and youthful. We used pink, peach, white, purple, and yellow to tie the look together,” Jon Shay, Owner and Lead Designer of Shay Florals, detailed. “We stayed away from heavy greenery to keep things light and airy. We used roses, ranunculus, daisies, tulips, sweet peas, and additional stems to create this look. Our main goal was to keep it spring/summer inspired.”
“The aesthetic was a whimsical yet elegant spring wedding with lots of bright color and citrus elements. We couldn’t have asked for a better day for it,” the photographer beamed. “The sun was shining, the colors were popping, and our spring garden theme shone through in every photo.”
Organizing an inspiration shoot allows wedding pros to showcase their creative minds, and the highlight for this team was seeing the final product.
“My favorite part is always watching the shoot come together! It’s so exciting to start with just the mood board and then see all the vendors take that vision and bring it to life. They absolutely nailed it for this one! I love being able to capture the final product of everyone’s hard work and showcase it all in my own creative way. From the vibrant color-blocked floral arch to the tablescape adorned with a beautiful floral arrangement and bud vases, lots of citrus, the funky different colored candles, and custom table numbers and menus, to the stunning purple butterfly shoes, every single detail added a unique touch to the shoot and tied in perfectly with the theme,” the photographer gushed. “I definitely ended the day with a full memory card and an even fuller heart!”
“My favorite elements of this styled shoot were the bridal details, the shoes, the ceremony chairs, and the big-bloomed flowers,” the planner added.
