Uyen and Nick’s South Tampa wedding combined a muted palette of warm, creamy colored flora, clean lines, and natural textures to create a contemporary boho style.
“Our wedding theme was MOHO, modern-bohemian, with soft romantic touches. Our styles are very modern yet simple and elegant. We wanted something timeless with a touch of uniqueness,” the bride described. “The colors were ivory, cream, mauve/blush, and rusty brown/orange. The warm tones and statement rooms at our venue allowed us to add sleek pops of color while staying true to our style.”
The Tampa couple turned to Marry Me Tampa Bay to provide inspiration and research local event spaces for their October nuputials.
“We used Marry Me Tampa Bay for inspiration on wedding colors, décor, and initial venue/vendor searches,” Uyen shared.
While searching for a wedding venue, the couple envisioned a space that supported their unique vision while comfortably accommodating their guests.
“We wanted a venue that fit our vision and ability for personalization, and we wanted to work with coordinators that were personable and helpful, especially when curating a day that is so special to us. We chose Hyde House Public Studio because we fell in love with the vibe of the venue. It gave us an open canvas to be as creative as we wanted! There were so many nooks and crannies for Instagrammable shots for our guests and our wedding photos!” Uyen raved. “The venue also gave a warm and modern palate with sleek touches that we wanted to build upon with our vision. Our Hyde House coordinator was so helpful throughout the whole process. She really wanted to make our dreams come true and was open to all our ideas (food, bar, layout, etc). She was very responsive and very organized.”
Uyen prioritized flowers as a key aspect of their celebration and sought a wedding florist with a broad portfolio who could bring their modern, bohemian vision to life.
“We wanted a florist who had a similar style to ours. We were immediately drawn to Iza’s Flowers because of Iza’s amazing portfolio, ability to create different styles, knowledge of florals/décor, and flexibility,” the bride detailed. “After visiting Iza’s office, we saw how hard-working she was. Her inventory of décor and knowledge of florals and combinations were amazing!”
In addition to the decor, the bride and groom focused on creating a unique and immersive experience for their 100 guests by incorporating their heritages and creating an intimate dinner party atmosphere.
“The most important elements to us were food and flowers! We love all food, cultures, and flavors, and we were able to incorporate that into our wedding and create a fun food tour for our guests to connect with each other. We wanted our guests to feel like it was an intimate dinner party with close friends. The whole night was immersive and allowed everyone to socialize, dance, and connect,” the bride articulated. “Nick and I are huge foodies, adventurous, fun, and come from different backgrounds. We incorporated my Vietnamese background into the main cuisine at dinner where we had multiple courses that were shared family-style on lazy susans. For dessert, we incorporated Nick’s Italian side by creating a secret dessert room, which had a display of Mazzaro’s Italian pastries, cannolis, and wedding cookies. As for our wedding cake, we asked our baker for lemon-flavored, an homage to our beautiful trip to Positano, Italy.”
To complement her modern boho look, the bride selected an applique gown with a plunging back and mismatched mauve bridesmaid dresses.
“For my hair and makeup, I wanted a romantic and neutral look with a touch of glam. I wanted my hair to be in soft glam curls and my makeup to have more neutral tones,” Uyen shared. “Kelcey and Kassie at Adore Bridal are both so talented and easy to talk to. I provided them with some adjustments after my trial, and they were so understanding. They even pulled up the notes on my wedding day! They are such an amazing team!”
The bride and groom chose to have a first look before they exchanged vows, which resulted in an unforgettable memory with their closest friends witnessing it all.
“Our most memorable moment was the first look and pre-wedding photos with our wedding party. It was a very special first look since my bridesmaids were able to witness it from across the room. It is so much fun to take photos with your friends and fiancé before the ceremony. It helped with our nerves and allowed us time to have fun with our friends before the ceremony,” the bride reminisced.
What were your wedding hair and makeup inspiration?
For my hair and makeup, I wanted a romantic and neutral look with a touch of glam. I wanted my hair to be in soft glam curls and my makeup to have more neutral tones.
I had a phone call with Kelcey of Adore Bridal to discuss my questions, and she was the biggest sweetheart! I met her and Kassie at my makeup/hair trial, and it was so much fun! They are both so talented and easy to talk to. I provided them with some adjustments after my trial and they were so understanding. They even pulled up the notes on my wedding day! They are such an amazing team!
The Proposal:
Nick and I went on a winter getaway to a ranch in Big Sky, Montana. We stayed in a cabin and went on a few romantic winter excursions such as dog sledding, sleigh ride/dinner, and a Yellowstone tour. One of our excursions was snow-shoeing with a “tour guide.” He took us to the top of a mountain nearby and told us to take a picture on the peak. The “tour guide” took out his professional camera and that was where Nick popped the big question!
What did you look for in a wedding florist?
We wanted a florist who had a similar style to ours. We looked through a few florists’ Instagrams and portfolios. We also met a few florists to get a feel of their work ethic, creativity, and ability to listen to our vision.
We were immediately drawn to Iza’s Flowers because of Iza’s amazing portfolio, ability to create different styles, knowledge of florals/décor, and flexibility. After visiting Iza’s office, we saw how hard-working she was. Her inventory of décor and knowledge of florals and combinations were amazing!”

Where did you spend your honeymoon?
We did a trip to Hawaii to visit Oahu and Maui. We wanted somewhere where we could explore, be adventurous, and relax at the same time. Hawaii has a lot of hikes, amazing food (a lot of Japanese influence, fresh fish, and melt in your mouth poke), and we were able to relax by our resort’s pool in Maui.
Where did you host your bachelorette party?
My maid of honor hosted a bohemian bachelorette in Palm Springs, California. We chose that location because it fits my style, and the area has a lot to offer. Palm Springs has tons of hikes, relaxation, shopping, cute bars, and amazing food places in one area! We were able to go to Joshua Tree ( which was 30-45 minutes away), Pioneertown, hang out by the pool, and bar hop!
Which vendors really exceeded your expectations?
Our planner went above and beyond for us! The day was so stress-free and seamless because of her. Our photographer is talented and was so much fun to work with. She was so organized, timely, and personable. She created a thorough timeline based on what we wanted and provided efficient suggestions that really optimized our time with her during the day. Our videographer was absolutely amazing the day of our wedding. His footage of the day and editing created a cinematic feel for our wedding day. Lastly, our DJ really brought down the house that night! Our guests started dancing at 7 p.m. until the end of the night!
What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Make sure you meet all your vendors and have that connection with all of them. It is very important for your vendors to understand your vision while supporting your creativity and providing that support that you need. Also, it’s important to create a day that is special for your and your husband/wife to embrace the day and the journey.
