Mickey and Scott's South Tampa wedding featured classic décor adorned in gold and greenery with a white horse-drawn carriage send-off.
“Our wedding theme was timeless and elegant with a touch of fun. Our décor was green, white, and gold,” the bride shared. “We wanted a wedding that showcased our neighborhood and lifestyle. Neither one of us are from Florida, so for the majority of guests, this was a destination wedding.”
The local bride and groom selected one of the newest wedding spaces in Tampa Bay, which was also just down the street from their home.
“We were excited to have a space that had not been used before. Hyde House is within walking distance to our home. We love the area for eating at the restaurants, shopping, walking the dog, and getting coffee,” Mickey explained. “The venue was great! It is a modern, cool space with many fun details but enough open space to truly transform it into our own personal style.”
Past weddings featured on Marry Me Tampa Bay inspired the couple to incorporate a sweet treat for their guests.
“We looked at different weddings on Marry Me Tampa Bay for inspiration and unique additions that made the wedding more personal. I remember seeing a donut wall that actually inspired us to do a milkshake bar for dessert,” Mickey revealed.
One of the couple's favorite memories of the day was the heartfelt personalization of their ceremony.
“When we met with our rabbi before the wedding, he asked us to email him what we love most about each other and the other’s best and unique qualities. After the traditional portion of the ceremony, he read excerpts from our email exchanges, which was a complete surprise and amazing memory; it truly made the whole experience very personal,” the bride reminsced.

The Proposal:
We through a mutual friend. I was living in Tampa where Scott had lived previously and moved away. Even though Scott was living in Nashville, Tennessee at the time, a mutual friend in Florida was trying to set us up for months; I wasn’t even sure if this Scott guy was a real person! Finally, my friend called me up and said, “Clear your schedule, Scott is coming down to meet you.” Turns out he was very real, came to visit, and even stayed an extra day because we were having so much fun. We have spoken every day since then and in May he moved down to Tampa. We got engaged that October and married one year later.

Where did you host your bachelorette party?
We had a small gathering in Chicago, where I am from. We caught a Cubs game and enjoy the beautiful weather. It was a fun central location that had so much to offer with great food and beautiful views

What did you look for in a wedding venue?
We wanted a wedding venue in Tampa that showcased our neighborhood and lifestyle. Neither one of us is from Florida so for the majority of guests this was a destination wedding. It was very important for us to show our friends and family our neighborhood and a peek into what our lives are like in Tampa.
Hyde House was a brand new venue, and we were excited to have a space that had not been used before. It is within walking distance to our home in Hyde Park Village, where we often visit. We love the area for eating at the restaurants, shopping, walking the dog, and getting coffee. Since most of our guests were from out of town we wanted to give them a keep into what our life in Tampa is like.
The venue was great! It is a modern, cool space with many fun details but enough open space to truly transform it into our own personal style.

Where are you did you go on your honeymoon?
We went to Blackberry Mountain in Wayland, Tennessee. Our original plan to go on an African safari was postponed due to COVID but the backup plan ended up being even more amazing than the original! We stayed in a luxury cabin in the Smokey Mountains. In addition to being very romantic, we were able to participate in many activities including horseback riding, ceramics, dance, wine tasting, hiking, and meditation just to name a few. We even had our own golf cart to drive around the beautiful mountain property and watch the autumn leaves change color. It was spectacular.

What was your theme?
Our wedding theme was timeless and elegant with a touch of fun.
What were your colors?
Our décor was green, white, and gold.

What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
No matter what you do to prepare, some things will not go as planned. But it's ok! just expect the unexpected, at the end of the day you get to marry the love of your life! Also, slow down and enjoy the day, soak in every moment, it goes fast.
