Victoria and Jake

“Our wedding vision was timeless and romantic. I wanted timeless because I wanted something I could look back on decades later and still be in love with. Our colors were white and beige with gold accents. I wanted a clean, crisp, neutral wedding.” – The Bride

FEATURING

Victoria and Jake’s Palm Harbor-meets-Ybor City wedding combined neutral white flora with tropical greenery accented with pops of gold. The pair exchanged traditional vows in a picturesque chapel before transitioning to a historic boutique hotel for their elegant reception.

“Our wedding vision was timeless and romantic. I went back and forth a lot on the theme I wanted. I wanted timeless, but when you scroll Pinterest for hours, it is hard not to change your mind. I stuck with my original design because I wanted something I could look back on decades later and still be in love with,” the bride shared. “Our colors were white and beige with gold accents. I wanted a clean, crisp, neutral wedding. I asked all the guests to wear black because, as someone who has been to so many weddings, finding an outfit can be so hard.”

The Parrish bride had long coveted the stunning space at Harborside Chapel, having it pinned on her Pinterest page far before her engagement. She knew the bright and airy interior and timeless facade would be the perfect place for them to say I do in front of their 60 guests.

“I had Harborside Chapel pinned on Pinterest for years, and when I walked in, I just knew it was the right spot. The employees and volunteers just love seeing love. We were not even in the planning stage yet, so knowing we had Harborside, who does so many weddings a week seamlessly, was a big reassurance. We ultimately fell in love with the timeless chapel look, the natural light, and the support from the volunteers during the tour,” the bride beamed. “They have it down to a science when it comes to how the day is run. I booked Harborside for a full day, so we had the option to get ready in the bridal suite. I recommend it all the time. Their mentors, Barb and Mike from their pre-marital mentorship program and Darci and Pastor Andrew, made everything so perfect. We walked in feeling so at ease and ready.”

The search for a reception venue for their December celebration took months, and after touring several venues that didn’t quite match their vibe, Victoria and Jake discovered Hotel Haya and immediately knew it was the perfect fit. The hotel’s on-site accommodations, gorgeous event space, and plethora of amenities, made it an ideal choice.

“With Jake being from Kentucky and a lot of our family flying in from all over, we wanted a place with accommodations. I love the idea of everyone being nearby and family mingling throughout the weekend,” the bride articulated. “There are so many things we love about Hotel Haya. The neutral ballroom, the sexy but timeless feeling, the amazing staff, and the fact it was pet-friendly. Plus they have a cafe and restaurant downstairs, and our guests could explore during the day by walking around historic Ybor or taking the streetcar for free. We also loved that our guests’ room rate was cost-effective. We wanted everyone to have a great time and not have to worry about driving.”

With a specific wedding vision in mind, Victoria sought a wedding planner who could listen to her ideas and help make her dreams a reality. Upon meeting Amanda Biery, owner of The Olive Tree Weddings, it was evident that the couple were in excellent hands. From the initial creative design meeting to the day of event execution, the bride and groom were truly impressed by the quality of care and attention they received.

Hotel Haya recommended Amanda with The Olive Tree Weddings when I told them my vision. I interviewed a few planners, but Amanda was the only one who offered to meet me in person and started going over ideas with me before she was even hired. I walked out of our first meeting at Starbucks and knew I had found my planner,” the bride raved. “Amanda and Kinsey were my planners, wedding besties, and therapists all in one. Their service was incredible! You know you picked the right planner when you miss talking to them! They were with me at all my appointments. I recommend them to everyone! Not only did they make my experience amazing, but they were truly right by my side the entire day. I honestly don’t know how they do it all, but they are the most dynamic duo. I know how busy they are, but they make you feel like you are their main priority. The best thing you can do is just go ahead and hire them!”

As a reflection of their lifestyle and values, the bride and groom prioritized their experience with their closest friends and family and created an atmosphere conducive to the quality time they planned to enjoy with everyone at the celebration.

“We chose our wedding date, 12/22, because we wanted to spend our first Christmas married with both sides of our family together,” Victoria revealed. “The overall feeling of the wedding was most important to me. We are homebodies and really family-oriented. We have a tight friend group who we also view as family, so when it came to the guest count, we invited an intimate number of people.”

To preserve their memories with loved ones, the pair hired The Gala Photobooth to provide both entertainment and keepsake mementos. The photo booth experience was busy all night long, and the couple appreciated having digital copies of all of the photos to relive the memories of the big day.

“We decided to do the photo booth instead of wedding favors, and I am so glad we did! It was a huge hit! We had family from all over the country visiting, and they were able to get many pictures,” Victoria gushed. “I had researched a lot of companies and discovered The Gala Photobooth was running a special. We spoke on the phone right away to book. They were communicative, punctual, and friendly. When I visited them at a bridal show after I had already booked them, I was able to see their work and was so impressed.”

There were several key moments that stood out to Victoria as core memories, including a few intimate moments with treasured guests, quality time with Jake, and an iconic fashion statement.

“Every part of the day was so special. I will always remember driving our photographers and videographer (Autumn, Jendry, and Brittney) to the wedding in our getaway car while in my pjs, listening to Taylor Swift, and getting a moment up at the altar to look out at each individual guest who was there and take the moment of it all in. Afterward, Jake and I took a moment to sit on the lounge furniture to watch everyone from afar. If you have a chance, do it. Being able to watch everyone enjoy the night I had sleepless nights over brought me so much joy,” the bride reminisced. “Also, do the dress change. It was a moment, and I felt so free in my sparkly dress and sneakers.”

The Proposal:
Jake and I had planned a photo shoot months in advance. It was with a friend from back in high school who was just starting out. I wanted to support her, plus we had only had selfies together. Jake planned to propose that night with our photographer, my nail tech, and my family. We had to reschedule our shoot because of the weather, so I really had no idea. He proposed at Bean Point on Anna Maria Island, which has always been my favorite spot. After he proposed, my whole family came out from behind the sand dunes to celebrate with us.

Where did you spend your honeymoon?
We did a Caribbean cruise for our mini-moon, with plans for a European cruise come summer. We went on the Celebrity Apex to San Juan, St. Thomas, Puerto Plata, and St. Maarten. We chose a cruise because Jake had never been on one, and I wanted to see so many different places. After planning the wedding, being able to just go on a ship and have everything prepaid and planned was amazing.

Where did you host your bachelorette party?
We did a couple’s bach party at JW Marriott Marco Island. We have a great group of friends that we share. The girls did beach yoga, a champagne PJ party with all the best chick flicks, and hot girl walks to the beach bar.

What did you look for in a wedding DJ?
Cory Barron was recommended by my planner. I wanted an experienced DJ who could provide cold sparklers and uplighting. Also, I wanted a DJ whose set would fit the aesthetic. He had a white DJ booth and was on the list with Hotel Haya to provide cold sparklers. After seeing him set up in the ballroom of Hotel Haya at Tie the Knot Ybor, I was sold. Cory was professional, helpful, and confident in his skills, which, as a bride, is reassuring. I gave him a list of songs I didn’t want to be played and told him we like to mash/remix songs together, plus, I was a Taylor Swift fan. All my guests were having a good time. I couldn’t even get my grandma off the dance floor!

What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Interview vendors before hiring! You will spend a lot of time with and talking to your planners, photographers, videographers, and venue team. Make sure you not only love their work, but also they hear your ideas, respect your budget, and know what you are looking for in each service.

Which vendors really exceeded your expectations?

All my vendors were incredible! I did the research, and I turned to my planners for support, and I am so glad I did! I could talk forever about how incredible Amanda and Kinsey from The Olive Tree Weddings are.

Our photographer team, Autumn & Jendry, are seriously two of the most genuine, talented, and supportive people you will ever meet. Our photos from our engagement and wedding have come out incredible; my friends even use them for family shoots now. They made my husband, who is very camera-shy, feel comfortable and confident. They captured candid moments from both our welcome party and wedding that everyone in my family cherished. Our videographer was incredible! She sent me inspo videos on Instagram, showed up early, and captured every moment. She went from camera to Super 8 like a pro. Our rental company helped me take an idea I had in my mind, make it a reality, and work with my budget.

Hotel Haya‘s Logan Bell was amazing to work with. She went above and beyond through the entire experience.

We hosted our rehearsal dinner, welcome party, and reception at Hotel Haya, and she made sure that we were taken care of. Logan was amazing to not only me but my entire family and all our guests. She checked in on us before the rehearsal, during the reception, and in the days following. Harborside Chapel was the perfect ceremony spot. The church is gorgeous, the team is so knowledgeable, and the mentorship program was a great growth exercise. My makeup artist is beyond talented. She did my makeup for both my rehearsal dinner and wedding day and was incredibly sweet, helpful, punctual, and knowledgeable.
