Four months after Rosalie and Eben got engaged at Disney, the tied the knot with an intimate Tampa Bay wedding.
“We knew we wanted a short engagement,” the bride explained. “We only had 60 guests; a small wedding worked better for us, and at the end of the day we wanted our wedding to be about us and the people we love the most.”
The Tampa couple met and fell in love in in the area and were on the same page for the atmosphere for their wedding.
“Eben and I had a very similar vision of what we wanted our wedding to look and feel like, which made things very easy,” Rosalie said. “We are both outdoors people, love flowers and like to keep ourselves surrounded by close friends and family.”
The pair searched for an outdoor Tampa Bay wedding venue, that would complement their romantic theme.
“Cross Creek Ranch was really the perfect place. We fell in love with being under the trees, all the beautiful landscaping around us and how intimate it felt,” the bride gushed. “The staff were sweet and easy to work with. We didn’t have to worry about arranging anything for the ceremony and reception. They did a phenomenal job!”
Looking back, one of Rosalie’s most memorable moments came at the end of her wedding reception.
“We made every couple slow dance to amazing music. Time goes by so fast that you don’t really know when was the last time these couples got to dance with each other. I wanted to everyone leave our wedding feeling in love,” the bride reminisced.
What were the deciding factors for the venue you chose?
The deciding factor was that we wanted to be outdoors with the option of also being inside at the same time. Our venue was really the perfect place. We fell in love with being under the trees, all the beautiful landscaping around us and how intimate it felt.
The staff at Cross Creek Ranch was sweet and easy to work with. Our decorator was from South Africa like Eben and the wedding coordinator was from Puerto Rico like me ! How perfect is that?!
We didn’t have to worry about arranging anything for the ceremony and reception. I was very specific about little details and had very high expectations. All my expectations decoration-wise were far exceeded. Cross Creek Ranch did a phenomenal job!
The proposal was extremely unexpected, which was what made it totally awesome. Eben and me decided not buy an engagement ring; we wanted The Lord to totally provide it for us, so we just believed that God would bring us the perfect ring as a testimony of His provision and His approval of our relationship.
When my parents came to visit, we went wedding dress shopping (without even being engaged yet, kind of awkward) and spent together since it was the first time Eben was meeting my parents in-person. We decided to go Boma in the Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort in Disney World to have dinner. Since Eben is from South Africa, we thought it would be cool to bring my Puerto Rican parents into the whole African atmosphere.
At the end of our meal, my parents were giving Eben the blessing to our relationship and their approval. Eben asked me if I have told my parents that we were believing in God for an engagement ring. When I finished telling my parents, Eben got down on one knee and said “Well, The Lord answered,” with the most perfect engagement ring I could’ve ever asked for! It was such a perfect evening.
How would you describe your theme?
I wouldn’t say we had a specific wedding theme. We wanted our wedding to feel timeless and romantic and include some personal details, like maps and international chocolates, since we are from total opposite parts of the world.
What were your colors?
Our main color was powder blue; blue is our favorite color. After that we stuck on rose, pastels and whites, anything airy and soft.
What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay Brides?
Make the decision from the very beginning NOT to stress and be open to changes along the way. Keep in mind that what really matters is marrying your best friend!
