Alex and Bill’s vintage Tampa Bay wedding featured a gorgeous color palette of ivory, navy, and pink that perfectly incorporated dainty touches of colorful flowers and flamingo accents. Family and friends fell in love with the outdoor setting and couldn’t get enough of the amazing dessert bar filled with some of the couple’s favorite tasty treats.
“Our theme was along the lines of vintage meets retro with a touch of old world Floridian,” the bride shared. “We love the tropical flowers, colors, and dense luscious greenery, but also found a way to work in vintage design elements such as cake platters and servers, while incorporating touches of colorful flowers and flamingo accents.”
As the bride and groom made arrangements for their destination Tampa wedding from New Jersey, they knew offering mouthwatering desserts was a must have for their special day.
“Alessi Bakery provided a great variety and everything was delicious. I’m a baker and love desserts, so getting quality, great tasting desserts was important. We wanted to include Bill’s favorite desserts like donuts, pinole cookies, key lime, and lemon cupcakes!” Alex shared. “We continued to eat the desserts days later, and they were still tasty and moist. We can’t wait to recut and try our wedding cake at our one-year anniversary!”

Both Alex and Bill agreed they wanted a Tampa Bay wedding DJ who had a good reputation and was flexible when it came to song choice.
“We heard great things about Grant Hemond & Associates, and they had high reviews,” Alex explained. “They were great and very accommodating. We loved that they played whatever we wanted, even last-minute dance floor recommendations from us!”

Looking back on their wedding day, the bride and groom shared that pledging their love for one another stood out the most.
“We absolutely loved the ceremony! It was a moment just for us and about us, that we will always remember,” the bride gleamed. “We stood outside cocooned by nature and loved holding on to each other while sealing our promise to always love, respect, cherish, and protect one another. At that moment, we felt like it was just the two of us.”
The Proposal:
Bill, knowing that I can be particular about things, wanted to make sure I had a ring I loved, so we went ringing shopping. We found the perfect ring but, that’s when the waiting began. We were going on vacation in April to Florida (Sarasota/ Bradenton), and I thought he was going to ask me then and maybe try to be romantic. But, in March we were heading out the door to dinner at our favorite sushi restaurant when he turned and to me and said, “I can’t wait any longer will you marry me?” I, of course, said “Yes!”
How did you incorporate you and your spouse’s personalities into the wedding?
I think everything about our wedding screamed “us!” We are outdoorsy people so having our ceremony outside was important. We are plant and nature people, so our ceremony was different and resembled us. I love to bake and have many antique milk glass platters, so using my platters for our dessert bar was great to see.
How would you describe your theme?
Vintage, retro, old world Floridian. We love the tropical flowers, colors, and dense luscious greenery. We used vintage design elements such as cake platters and servers, while incorporating touches of colorful flowers and flamingo accents.
What were your colors?
Ivory, navy and a pop of flamingo pink for Florida. Navy looks flattering on everyone, and we wanted a pop of color because we love color, and we love fun.
What was your wedding cake inspiration?
I’m a baker and love desserts, so getting quality, great tasting desserts was important. We wanted to include Bill’s favorite desserts like donuts, pinole cookies, key lime, and lemon cupcakes!

What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Have fun planning, we did! Use vendors that you feel comfortable with and are reliable. Get married outdoors! Tampa Bay has so many great outdoor venues. We could get married over and over again at different locations if we had an endless pot of money!
