Ansley and Nick

“I’ve always been drawn to traditional style, so we wanted our wedding to feel elegant and timeless. Soft blue has long been a favorite of mine, making it a natural choice for our primary color, with sage accents added for a warm, seasonal touch. Our palette of soft blue, white, and gold with hints of sage felt romantic, classic, and truly reflective of us.” -The Bride

FEATURING

Ansley and Nick’s timeless Tampa wedding welcomed 170 guests with an elegant soft blue, white, gold, and sage color palette, complemented by lush florals that created a romantic and refined atmosphere. The November celebration began with a meaningful Catholic ceremony honoring family traditions, including a special mantilla blessing, before transitioning into a heartfelt reception centered on love, heritage, and connection. Personal heirlooms and custom details woven throughout the event reflected the bride and groom’s love story and the people who mean the most to them. The evening concluded with emotional speeches, joyful moments, a packed dance floor, and, of course, Chick-fil-A.

“We live in Tampa and knew right away we wanted to celebrate our wedding here because this community means so much to us. Both my husband and I moved around a lot growing up, and we have friends and family spread out across the country. Hosting our wedding in Tampa—specifically in Ybor City—gave us the chance to share a place we truly love with the people who mean the most to us. It created a destination wedding feel for our guests while allowing us to celebrate right at home,” the bride shared. “I am a deeply sentimental person, and it was important to me that our wedding reflected that. My mom and I planned every detail with meaning in mind, making sure the day felt personal, thoughtful, and truly ‘us.’”

Researching Wedding Vendors

“Marry Me Tampa Bay was such a great resource throughout the planning process. We loved browsing through real weddings for inspiration—especially for décor ideas and artistic elements that helped shape the look of our invitations and other details. It was so helpful to see how other couples brought their vision to life in the Tampa Bay area, and it definitely sparked some of our favorite creative ideas.”

The Bach Party & Honeymoon

“We hosted my bachelorette party in St. Augustine, and it was absolutely perfect! The location was easy for all my girls to travel to, and it had such a charming, laid-back vibe. The theme was “Last Toast on the Coast,” and the entire weekend felt like something straight out of a Nancy Meyers film—cozy, fun, and full of laughter.

We packed in so many unforgettable activities! We had a movie night, went mattress surfing, made pizzas, and even watched the sunrise on the beach. We ate at amazing restaurants, hired a hibachi chef for a private backyard dinner party, and spent lazy days by the pool and on the beach. We also went on a ghost tour, which was a blast! The weekend truly had everything I dreamed of, and I couldn’t have asked for a better time with my closest friends.

We originally had a completely different honeymoon planned, but just three days before we were set to leave, a tropical depression was headed straight for our destination. So, we made a last-minute decision to change our plans entirely—and we couldn’t be more grateful for that change. Instead of heading to an all-inclusive island resort, we booked a trip to Paris.

Paris, the city of love, was everything we could have hoped for and more. We spent nine unforgettable days exploring the city’s art, food, and culture. From strolling along the Seine to enjoying world-class museums and indulging in delicious French cuisine, it truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It was the perfect way to begin our married life together.”

The Experience

“We live in Tampa and knew right away we wanted to celebrate our wedding here because this community means so much to us. Both my husband and I moved around a lot growing up, and we have friends and family spread out across the country. Hosting our wedding in Tampa—specifically in Ybor City—gave us the chance to share a place we truly love with the people who mean the most to us. It created a destination wedding feel for our guests while allowing us to celebrate right at home.

I am a deeply sentimental person, and it was important to me that our wedding reflected that. My mom and I planned every detail with meaning in mind, making sure the day felt personal, thoughtful, and truly ‘us.’

Inside every room of the historic venue offered a unique experience. The Cantina featured bourbon, brandy, and custom-labeled cigars with our wedding monogram. In the library, guests enjoyed a grazing table and watched a traditional Spanish jamón being carved. The Centro’s grand theatre hosted a jazz band and a slideshow of photos of us through the years.

The most important elements to us were the personal touches that made the day feel uniquely ours. We put so much thought into the details, and seeing our story woven into every part of the weekend made it incredibly meaningful. Beyond that, spending time with our family and friends meant everything—having all the people we love in one place was such a gift. The speeches especially stood out—they made us laugh, cry, and reminded us just how loved and supported we are. It was more than we could’ve hoped for.

What made our wedding truly unique was the blend of thoughtful details and deeply sentimental moments woven throughout the entire celebration. Every element was intentional—designed to reflect not just our love story, but the cultures, traditions, and people who have shaped us. We embraced the heritage of our families and the rich history of our community.”

The Proposal

“Nick and I got engaged on September 23 at the Four Seasons Resort in Orlando. The day started with a fun adventure at Magic Kingdom with my mom and a close family friend, who is like an aunt to me. We spent the day riding my favorite attractions and having lunch with the princesses in Cinderella’s Castle.

Later, we continued our ‘girls weekend’ and got ready for cocktails at a new lounge that our friend was eager to try. When we arrived, I was surprised to see Nick standing on a private balcony with the most breathtaking view. A violinist was there, playing my favorite Taylor Swift songs and beautiful pieces from the Disney movie Tangled. It was incredibly romantic, personal, and private—the proposal couldn’t have been more thoughtful.

After the proposal, we spent the evening taking photos around the resort before heading to dinner. To my delight, our family had come out to surprise us! We ended the night recapping all the planning that went into the proposal and savoring the joy of being newly engaged.”

The Design

“I’ve always been drawn to traditional style, so we knew from the start that we wanted our wedding to feel both elegant and timeless. Soft blue has been a favorite of mine for years, so it was an easy choice for our primary color—it’s calming, romantic, and classic. Since our wedding is in the fall, we added touches of sage green to complement the season while still keeping the overall palette soft and refined. The combination really reflects who we are and the kind of warm, graceful celebration we wanted to create.

Our color palette was soft blue, white, and gold with accents of sage. As someone who has always loved tradition, blue felt like the perfect fit—it’s a classic wedding color symbolizing loyalty, and it’s also been my favorite color for as long as I can remember. I always knew it would be part of my wedding day. The soft shade we chose felt timeless and romantic, and the sage accents added just the right touch of warmth for the fall season. The combination gave us a beautiful, elegant backdrop that felt timeless.

We kicked off the weekend with a welcome night inspired by Old Florida—a nod to my roots as a 7th-generation Floridian.

We gave guests locally made candles from 7th Avenue Apothecary as favors, created custom cigar labels to match the theme, and featured a custom logo throughout the evening on gift bags, straws for our signature drinks, dinner menus, and signage. The logo, inspired by a vintage postcard, also appeared on real postcards for guests to write on and send back to us with notes and advice for after the honeymoon.

Our seating chart wall featured one of my favorite Taylor Swift lyrics, and the back of the dinner menus showcased a custom toile print, designed by me, that included our cats and other personal symbols.

From start to finish, every element of our wedding weekend reflected our story, our roots, and the love we share for each other and our families.”

The Details

“One of the most meaningful touches that night was having the groom’s family bake homemade chocolate chip cookies as the evening’s sweet treat—something that felt warm, welcoming, and very personal

For the table numbers, we displayed photos of each of us at the age corresponding to the table number, which became a fun, nostalgic conversation piece.

Our wedding day began with a meaningful Mass, during which we included family members as readers and gift bearers. We also honored my godparents—who were longtime Tampa residents but couldn’t attend—with a traditional Spanish mantilla ceremony and blessing. The mantilla, from Spain, held special significance as it tied back to my godfather’s heritage.

Our reception was held at the Centro Asturiano de Tampa, a place close to my heart as both an employee and legacy member. We wanted to honor its Spanish-Asturian heritage, so guests were welcomed with traditional Asturian sidra and the sound of a bagpiper—bagpipes are a celebratory tradition in Asturias.

Inside, every room of the historic venue offered a unique experience.

Our reception was filled with heartfelt touches: a table of old family wedding photos, traditional wedding cookies baked by a close friend, Judy Lombardia, custom cocktail napkins and stirrers with our monogram (which also appeared on our invitations), and a nod to heritage and family with a table of candied almonds, an Italian wedding tradition.

Every name card had a hand-sewn silver rooster—lovingly crafted by my mom—as a tribute to the famous roosters of Ybor City.

One of the most meaningful details of all was our cake topper, which originally belonged to my great-aunt. We displayed a photo of her wedding day beside it from over 60 years ago.

For a fun twist, my husband’s groom’s cake was a surprise styled like a Masters Tournament caddy uniform, playing off our last name.”

Most Memorable Moments

“My husband and I share the same favorite moments from the day—each one was filled with emotion, meaning, and pure joy.

Walking down the aisle with both my dad and stepdad was incredibly special. It was a moment that symbolized the love and support I’ve been lucky to have throughout my life, and it meant so much to have them both by my side.

Our first dance as husband and wife to Nothing Can Change This Love by Sam Cooke was unforgettable. It was such a sweet, grounding moment in the middle of a whirlwind day—just the two of us, completely present.

The speeches from our co-maids of honor, co-best men, and both my dad and stepdad were another highlight. They had everyone laughing, crying, and feeling the love in the room. We’ll treasure their words forever.

Instead of a bouquet toss, I chose to dedicate my bouquet to my mom and grandma—two of the most important women in my life. It was such a meaningful way to honor them and the generations of love and strength they represent.

And of course, our late-night snack was a hit—Chick-fil-A and a surprise appearance from the Chick-fil-A cow! It was such a fun, unexpected moment that had everyone back on the dance floor, ending the night on the perfect note.”

Which vendors really exceeded your expectations?
While every vendor we worked with was truly phenomenal, a few really went above and beyond, becoming unforgettable parts of our day. Our band and jazz ensemble—DeLeon Entertainment and Harrison Jazz Ensemble—brought so much energy, elegance, and fun to the celebration. The music was incredible and set the perfect tone from cocktail hour through the final song. Our florist, Heather with By The Bay Floral, completely understood our vision and brought it to life with arrangements that were both timeless and unique. Every floral detail was beyond beautiful and added such richness to the space. My makeup and hair team—Autumn Nucci Salon and Dalonde Clark—made me feel confident and radiant all day. They were calm, professional, and so much fun to work with. The Magazine Photo Booth Tampa was a huge hit with guests. It was interactive, stylish, and created keepsakes that everyone is still talking about. And for the perfect late-night surprise, Chick-fil-A absolutely delivered! It was such a fun, crowd-pleasing moment that gave everyone a second wind on the dance floor. We feel so lucky to have worked with such an amazing team—each of them helped make the day more magical than we could’ve imagined.

What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Take a moment to truly enjoy the day. We made it a priority to sit and have dinner together before greeting our guests, and it was such a special time for us. Having that 1:1 time to be present with each other amid everything happening around us helped us stay grounded and savor the day’s magic. It’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind, but making space for quiet, meaningful moments together is something we’ll always treasure.
