Alyssa and Kevan
“Our wedding was romantic with a hint of boho. I️ really wanted something that was classic and formal but also light and airy. Our color palette was very neutral: black, white, cream, taupe, and blush. I’m a neutral girl, but those colors just fit the romantic boho vibe we were going for.” -The Bride
FEATURING
Alyssa and Kevan’s rooftop downtown St. Pete wedding was a monochromatic affair filled with neutral flora and bohemian-inspired dried foliage. The couple said ‘I do’ under black-tassel-draped chandeliers before enjoying an outdoor cocktail hour with guests, followed by dinner and dancing, complete with a taco bar and champagne tower.
“Our wedding was romantic with a hint of boho. I️ really wanted something that was classic and formal but also light and airy,” the bride explained. “Our color palette was very neutral: black, white, cream, taupe, and blush. I’m a neutral girl, but those colors just fit the romantic boho vibe we were going for.”
The Tampa bride browsed Marry Me Tampa Bay for real wedding inspiration and local resources, which aided in discovering her perfect wedding venue and wedding planner.
“While I was already familiar with Red Mesa Events because of their epic tacos and margaritas, I️ didn’t know they had an event space until I stumbled upon them through Marry Me Tampa Bay, where I️ also found my wedding planner, Delaney Driver from Wilder Mind Events!” Alyssa beamed. “I used Marry Me Tampa Bay to see other weddings at our particular venue, which was extremely helpful in choosing our layout, lighting, and colors.”
The couple was already sold on the delicious cuisine at Red Mesa Events, and the stunning event space and attentive service sealed the deal for their January celebration with 90 of their closest friends and family.
“We looked for places that matched our style without us having to add too much decor. Red Mesa Events has beautiful herringbone hardwood floors, brick walls, and huge chandeliers with uplighting. Many hotels we viewed had carpet and lots of drapery, which just wasn’t the look we were going for,” the bride articulated. “The event space was more than what we were looking for, and they have amazing food! Having great food was the most important thing for us. We wanted guests to enjoy their dinner and offered something other than the typical steak, chicken, or fish options. That was actually the main factor in choosing Red Mesa. The service was excellent, and they really worked with us to make sure our day was everything we wanted, from expanding our time slot to adding an extra custom drink at the last minute.”
With the ideal setting selected, Alyssa and Kevan turned to the experts at Wilder Mild Events to manage the demands of wedding planning and guide them through the months leading up to the big day.
“I knew wedding planning would be stressful and wanted someone who had a calming energy to get me through the process. I️ was looking for a planner who could see my vision and, most importantly, someone who could make sure that all of the things I️ wanted would flow well to create a cohesive look. I️ chose Delaney Driver at Wilder Mild Events because she was confident that we could make my vision work and immediately had ideas of which vendors would be best,” Alyssa raved. “She also has such a positive and laid-back attitude.”
The wedding party played an integral role in the wedding festivities, helping to create an energetic atmosphere for the couple’s reception intro, as well as an epic toast to signify the start of the celebration.
“When we had our bridal party introductions, we had them stay on the dance floor instead of going straight to their tables. So when we were introduced, they were there waiting for us and kind of hyping us up,” the bride beamed. “Then we did a champagne tower with them. It was a great way to kick-start the party!”
Alyssa was instantly drawn to the creative and offbeat photography style of Dewitt For Love upon their first meeting. Their conversation sparked an immediate connection, and she knew they were the perfect team to artfully document their celebration.
“We wanted someone who was great at candids but could also capture us posed without being stuffy and who was able to think outside the box a bit. When I️ came across Dewitt For Love‘s booth at a wedding expo, one of the photos they had displayed was of a couple on their wedding night at Taco Bell. The photos were very editorial and sophisticated, and I thought the level of skill and creative eye required to pull that off was so impressive,” the bride gushed. “After chatting with them and bonding over the fact that our sons are only a few weeks old, I️ just knew I️ had to have them.”
It was the final number on the dance floor that stood out as a core memory for Alyssa, who channeled her inner Jennifer Grey while Kevan did his best to emulate Patrick Swayze.
“Our private last dance was the most memorable moment. We danced and spun around like crazy to The Time Of My Life (from Dirty Dancing), just the two of us,” the bride reminisced. “It was goofy and perfect and such a fun way to close out our special day.”
The Proposal:
Kevan proposed while on our baby moon in Marco Island. I️ was standing on the balcony watching the sunset over the ocean when I️ turned around, and there he was, down on one knee, asking me to marry him.
Where did you spend your honeymoon?
We went to Mexico and stayed at the La Casa de la Playa, an adults-only all-inclusive boutique hotel. We chose that location because, after the pandemic and now having a toddler, we wanted a relaxing honeymoon where we could just enjoy our time together rather than having a robust itinerary and going from place to place.
Where did you host your bachelorette party?
Nashville! We stayed in the cutest Airbnb, which was completely decked out in pink and cowboy decor.
How would you describe your theme/wedding design inspiration?
Our wedding was romantic with a hint of boho. I️ really wanted something that was classic and formal but also light and airy.

Which vendors really exceeded your expectations?
Definitely my photographers! My dress ended up not fitting properly, and you could see a gap between my dress and my chest, but Shannon of Dewitt for Love was amazing and was able to edit that out of photos, so you would have never known the dress was too big.
My florist also blew me away with her floral installations on the chandeliers. They made the venue look so grand, and I️ had multiple people stop me at the wedding to praise her work!
What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Try not to sweat the small stuff throughout the process and have fun making your special day come to life!
