When you think of a rustic wedding setting, modern and moody may not be the first words that come to mind, but with the addition of Cross Creek Ranch‘s Oak Hall Chapel, the southern country wedding venue added a fresh look to its outdoor spaces.
This wedding inspiration shoot featured vibrant colors, industrial elements, and a modern floral altar covered in greenery and bright florals that showcased the all-inclusive venue’s multiple manicured greens and lush outdoor spaces.
“The theme of this shoot was edgy and romantic. We really wanted to gear this styled shoot to the fearless couples who have an edgy style and love to step outside the box,” Annika LaSala, Director of Weddings at Cross Creek Ranch, articulated. “We are a ranch wedding venue, so naturally, most of our weddings have a rustic touch. However, we wanted to showcase a different design that we thought would look perfect in our new modern venue, The Oak Hall.”
The open-air chapel boasts an all-white backdrop, surrounded by windows and can accommodate up to 75 guests. It features historic elements, with pews from a church in St. Augustine and a variety of outdoor options for portraits.
“This venue is the perfect place for an intimate wedding. It features a 12-foot high ceiling with white ship-lapped walls, statement chandeliers, wooden tables, and romantic market lighting making it the perfect balance of refined rustic and modern industrial,” Annika beamed. “We are a working ranch as well. We raise ornamental plants, rosemary, zinnias, vegetables, and 10 chickens on this side of the property; It gives lots of unique backdrops for awesome sweetheart photos.”
Cross Creek Ranch‘s signature black and white design with rich wood floors and bright spaces influenced Tampa Bay florist Monarch Events and Design. Owner Jean King created a colorful palette of dark purples, pinks, reds, and yellows that were the perfect touches of romance to the refined modern industrial garden setting.
“Using vibrant spring colors was our focus for the floral designs. We wanted to incorporate different textures of flowers along with different varieties of lush greenery,” the florist detailed. “We loved designing the flowers for the open-air chapel. Our flower backdrop inspiration was drawn from the refined industrial elements inside The Oak Hall. The white shiplap walls and wooden tables created the perfect space for the colorful floral designs.”
The rich oak trees that surround the grounds of the sweeping estate along with the Greenhouse provided a flower-filled garden background for post-ceremony portraits from Rad Red Creative. The models, Jeni and Matt, who previously tied the knot at Cross Creek Ranch, brought an edgy romance to the shoot. Femme Akoi Beauty Studio encompassed the bride’s striking energy with modern hair and makeup.
“The bride showed me the dress for the shoot, and it was a very whimsical long-sleeved lace gown. She had a celestial-inspired hat, so I thought it would be best to have her hair down and to the side to compliment the look,” Christine Wheaton, owner of Femme Akoi Beauty Studio explained. “The look was fun and dramatic. The bride had beautiful eyes, so we decided to go for a smokey look to accentuate them, and the bold dark lip pulled everything together. The couple already had an amazing edgy style that was so much fun to play around with!”
The airiness of the chapel with its natural light and neutral background lends itself to any color palette, making it a fit for any style, while the statement chandelier creates a dramatic focal point. Oak Hall wedding packages start at $15,245 for 50 guests and include the venue rental, catering, alcohol, flowers and decor, cake, and DJ.
