Modern, Tropical Wedding Inspiration
Tradewinds Resort
“My inspiration for the shoot was largely creating a tropical wedding design that wasn’t overly tropical. As much as I love plants, I didn’t want monstera leaves and bird of paradise throughout the florals. We chose an orange as our main focal color. I wanted to incorporate the orange from Life of a Showgirl as a nod to my love for Taylor Swift. This played perfectly into the modern tropical theme.” -Crysta Miller, Stelloccasions
Blending vibrant color with a refined coastal aesthetic, this modern tropical wedding inspiration at TradeWinds Resort on St. Pete Beach featured bold shades of orange and terracotta paired with stylish details and textured elements, creating a fresh take on tropical design without leaning overly beachy.

The Venue
The TradeWinds Resort
“The TradeWinds Resort has seen more tropical weddings than we could count, so I wanted to create something that was true to that but with a modern twist, without using tropical plants or blooms and too many tropical colors.”

“I love the color scheme, the way the orange really pops and stands out in the Garden Courtyard. Being able to showcase a beautiful beach ceremony without having to have all of the guests walk through sand is one of my favorite things about our property. I specifically love the RumFish Lawn for this because it is practically level with the beach so you really feel the closeness there,”

“The beachfront ceremony space at TradeWinds Resort is an absolute dream to photograph. There’s nothing quite like a palm-framed aisle set against the Gulf! The natural light reflects beautifully off the water and white sand, giving everything that signature soft, glowy look we love. It’s the perfect blend of laid-back coastal and elevated design, and it photographs like a destination wedding without ever leaving Florida.
The courtyard at TradeWinds is such a beautiful spot for a reception; it feels like a tropical oasis tucked right into the resort, and it’s just a short walk to the beach. It’s also ideal for aerial drone photography, offering a stunning overhead view of the full layout of the wedding.” -Susan Elizabeth, Owner and Photographer at Susan Elizabeth Photography

The Inspiration

“I would call this a modern tropical theme. I wanted to play off the fact that the Tradewinds Resort is located directly on St. Pete Beach without being overly tropical. The tropical orange paired with the modern terracotta colors created a contrast that wasn’t overly beachy. We chose an orange as our main focal color. I wanted to incorporate the orange from Life of a Showgirl as a nod to my love for Taylor Swift. This played perfectly into the modern tropical theme I was going for.
My inspiration for the shoot was largely creating a tropical wedding design that wasn’t overly tropical. As much as I love plants, I didn’t want monstera leaves and bird of paradise throughout the florals. Current wedding trends are leaning toward colorful color palettes. This shoot definitely captured that without going overboard. In my opinion, all weddings are classic, no matter what trends you incorporate or don’t.

The Stationery
MadWOLFE Designs
“MadWOLFE Designs incorporated some handmade terracotta place cards. Handwriting names in a script on to broken pieces of terra cotta created the perfect contrast to the orange table linens.”

The Planning
Stelloccasions
The perfect couple for this type of wedding would be a couple that wants to have fun with their design but doesn’t want to go over the top. If using the orange as your focal color, it can become overwhelming very quickly. When setting up the tables, I placed the linens and became concerned that it was ‘too much.’ Once place settings and other items began being placed on each of the tables, it toned it down and created a beautiful pop of color.
My favorite elements of this shoot were the terra cotta place cards and Hailey’s bridal suit.”
