Inspired by the glitz and glam of the 1920’s and the bohemian trends of today, this wedding inspiration shoot features a neutral color palette of white and gold, elegant formal place settings, vintage elements, and champagne tower.
“I have always loved the Gatsby era. There’s just something about the fashion, the cars, and the sophisticated charm that drew me in. As soon as I decided to add a historical element to this shoot, the 1920’s were my first choice,” Lara Vincent, wedding planner at Confetti Events & Weddings detailed. “I decided to keep the colors for this shoot as simple as possible, white and gold. I did this in order to highlight the features inside the ballroom at the Whitehurst Gallery. I felt that if we added more color, it would take away from the simple elegance of the venue.”
Channeling the grandeur of the unique architecture and manicured grounds, the decorative elements, from the florals to the attire, spoke to the beauty of the surrounding venue.
“The Whitehurst Gallery was actually the starting point for this shoot. The venue itself led the way to the theme,” the planner shared. “From the time I stepped foot on the property, I could feel the heart behind the history that the owners are so passionate to display. It was very important to me that our shoot accentuated these features of the gallery.”
Details reflected both the bygone era and today’s boho style, from pearls in the bride’s hairstyle by Femme Akoi Beauty Studio and the gold tableware from Gabro Event Services to the cascading greenery and pampas grass. Each element was thoughtfully curated courtesy of a team of wedding professionals, including a grand exit that made for incredible photos.
“There were so many beautiful elements to this shoot,” Laura beamed. “The napkin rings that tied in perfectly with the pearls in the bride’s hair, the antique car that was on the property and provided the perfect getaway, the mixed drinks and champagne tower so carefully created by Bar Artistry. On top of all of these wonderful pieces, the element that ended up being my favorite was the display of cold sparklers as our models exited the Whitehurst Gallery. This was an unexpected addition brought to the shoot by the wonderful DJ Cory Barron. The cold sparklers were everything we didn’t know we needed, and we had so much fun shooting with them.”
How did the Whitehurst Gallery fit within your theme?
The Whitehurst Gallery was actually the starting point for this shoot. The venue itself led the way to the theme. From the time I stepped foot on the property, I could feel the heart behind the history that the owners are so passionate to display. It was very important to me that our shoot accentuated these features of the gallery.
How would you describe your theme?
For this shoot, I chose to do a 1920s Gatsby theme with a boho twist. This decision was made after I spent some time walking around the beautiful Whitehurst Gallery. From the time I stepped foot on the property, I could feel the heart behind the history that the owners are so passionate to display. It was very important to me that our shoot accentuated these features of the gallery.
After choosing a more historic theme, I decided to pair it with a contemporary boho style. This was done in order to make the shoot more relatable for current brides. I think it is so important that our brides be able to see themselves in these shoots. We want to spark inspiration and excitement in our future brides.
What were your colors?
I decided to keep the colors for this shoot as simple as possible: white and gold. I did this in order to highlight the features inside the ballroom at the Whitehurst Gallery. I felt that if we added more color, it would take away from the simple elegance of the venue.
