Michelle and Connor
“We were inspired by romantic, timeless, and elegant aesthetics. We wanted to put a modern twist on a classic wedding that would still be appreciated years from now, even when showing the photos to our children. We chose dusty blue, mauve, and dusty pink shades, champagne, and green. We love these colors because they feel natural, soft, and elegant. We wanted them to create a feeling rather than stand out as a bold statement.” -The Bride
Michelle and Connor’s romantic St. Pete wedding was filled with meaningful details, soft and elegant florals, and a design that beautifully blended classic charm with modern sophistication, all while highlighting a love resilient enough to weather a hurricane.
“We were inspired by romantic, timeless, and elegant aesthetics. We wanted to put a modern twist on a classic wedding that would still be appreciated years from now, even when showing the photos to our children,” the bride revealed. “We chose dusty blue, mauve, and dusty pink shades, champagne, and green. We love these colors because they feel natural, soft, and elegant. We wanted them to create a feeling rather than stand out as a bold statement.”
For Michelle and Connor, the city they now call home represents the history of their journey and the distance they once overcame.
“We live in St.Petersburg, FL. We picked this area because it was where we first started our long-distance relationship while I was attending graduate school in Fort Lauderdale,” the bride explained. “We would drive four hours every weekend to see each other until I was finally able to move to St.Petersburg after graduation.”
The couple began their vendor search with the help of Marry Me Tampa Bay, using the wedding planning site to research vendors and compare options that matched their vision and budget. One of their most valuable discoveries was their wedding planner, Delaney Driver of Wilder Mind Events, who proved to be an essential part of making their wedding happen under difficult circumstances.
“We used Marry Me Tampa Bay to browse vendors, read reviews, narrow/rank our contenders based on their bios and listed pricing, which was extremely useful to have listed on one website that was easy to navigate and free,” Michelle recalled. “We found arguably the most important vendor, our amazing wedding planner, Delaney Driver of Wilder Mind Events, through Marry Me Tampa Bay. Our day would not have been complete without her.”
When it came to choosing a planner, Michelle and Connor were looking for someone who was not only organized and budget-conscious but also personable, decisive, and creative. Delaney checked every box and exceeded expectations in the most critical moments, especially when Hurricane Helene threatened to derail their plans just days before the big day.
“About a week before the wedding, our reception venue didn’t have power,” the bride recalled. “Delaney stepped up with several alternative options and gave us peace of mind every step of the way.”
“A hurricane had just swept through, and the venue didn’t regain power until the night before the wedding. We even had to secure a last-minute backup location for their welcome dinner due to the storm,” the planner added. “With so many moving parts, it could’ve felt chaotic—but it didn’t. Most guests still made it, showing up with pure joy and excitement. That’s the power of inviting people truly there to love and support you. Michelle and Connor’s crowd rallied, showed up, and brought the party. The love and warmth in the room felt like an extension of who they are. Despite the stress, once the celebration began, it was pure magic.”
In the end, the couple had to switch venues just hours before their welcome party, but the day turned out beautifully thanks to Wilder Minds Events‘ calm leadership and trusted vendor connections.
“Everything ended up being absolutely beautiful and unforgettable, all thanks to our amazing, kind, and caring wedding planner, Delaney, and the wonderful, dedicated vendors she connected us with, “the bride beamed.
The couple exchanged vows at Grace Lutheran Church, surrounded by family and the warm glow of stained glass windows. The celebration continued with a lively reception at the Museum of Fine Arts, where guests gathered in the Marly Room, an elegant ballroom featuring soaring 22-foot ceilings and glittering crystal chandeliers.
With such a meaningful setting and so many unforgettable moments, Michelle and Connor wanted a photo and video team who could preserve the beauty and emotion of their day with care and artistry. Experience was key, and J&S Media delivered exactly that, offering not only professionalism and creative vision, but also a calming presence throughout the celebration.
“We wanted to find a photographer and videographer who could capture quality over quantity, with experience in candid shots and artistic angles, all without being distracting. We also wanted someone we felt comfortable with. We immediately felt at ease with J&S Media and knew it would be a great fit,” the bride gushed. “They did our engagement photos, and we felt so comfortable around Jennifer. On the day of the wedding, I felt relaxed and confident with the videography crew, which helped calm my pre-wedding nerves. We were absolutely ecstatic with the final video. They captured so many precious moments, allowing us to feel like we could relive the best day of our lives every time we watched it.”
Michelle and Connor were intentional about making their September wedding feel deeply personal, weaving meaningful touches into every part of the day. Including their dog, Finnegan, in the wedding was a top priority, as he brings them daily comfort and calm—especially on such an emotional day. With the attentive, professional care of Fairytail Pet Care, Finnegan was safely and lovingly included in the celebration. Michelle’s hair and makeup by Femme Akoi Beauty Studio were soft, natural, and true to her personality. Her glam team worked through tight timelines and last-minute changes while making her feel seen and supported.
The couple also made it a priority to involve nieces and nephews, creating a family-centered atmosphere that matched their values. Every detail was curated not to impress, but to reflect who they are as individuals and as a couple.
“One of the biggest reflections of our personalities was in the people who celebrated with us. Our families and friends have shaped who we are, and their dedication and love were unmatched. Everyone traveled through hurricane chaos just to be there,” the bride shared. “Almost all of our guests were flying in from MN and NY and had to switch flights, rent cars, and find new hotels last minute. Their energy lit up the dance floor before the salads even arrived. The resilience, fun, and connection that defined our wedding day are the same things that define us as a couple. We will forever be grateful for their sacrifices.”
For Michelle, the day carried deep emotional weight. Having lost both of her parents, she anticipated feeling their absence acutely. Instead, she found strength and comfort in the people who stood beside her.
“My wedding was full of mixed emotions. Both of my parents passed away before I was 18, and I worried that feeling their absence on my wedding day would make it difficult to celebrate with everyone,” Michelle revealed. “However, thanks to my very attentive and loving sister and new wonderful in-laws, I was able to remember and recognize the love they had for me without feeling sad in their absence.”
Of all the joyful memories from the day, the spontaneous stage performance by the bride and groom left an unforgettable impression. The spontaneity of the moment, combined with their guests’ unfiltered enthusiasm, created a perfect snapshot of their love and the support surrounding them.
“Towards the end of the night, my husband and I got on stage to give an impromptu karaoke concert that ended with my husband crowd surfing,” the bride reminisced. “I also deeply enjoyed spending my morning getting ready with my closest friends and family, including my new in-laws.”

What was your wedding day hair and makeup inspiration?
I wanted a more natural, simplistic look that still made me feel like myself when I looked in the mirror. I wanted “me,” but on my best hair and makeup day!
The Femme Akoi Beauty Studio hair and makeup artists were phenomenal. They worked through time constraints and last-minute changes. Most importantly, I felt like I could trust Ayla because she listened to what I wanted, rather than giving me a generalized “glam” wedding look, and she replicated my hair Pinterest inspiration picture perfectly.

The Proposal:
Connor hid my wedding ring beneath a shell on the beach, and I found it as we were walking and searching for shells. A photographer was hiding nearby as he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. The rest is history!

Why did you choose to incorporate your pet into your wedding day?
Our dog, Finnegan, had to be a part of our wedding day because he is our fur baby! He brings us so much comfort and happiness every day, and he is always a reminder of how simply joyful life can be. He also never fails to calm my nerves, and that was definitely needed on our wedding day.
Because we only trust the best of the best with our furry loved one, we chose FairyTail Pet Care, and they did not disappoint. They were punctual, followed very specific instructions well, and helped put our minds at ease knowing our dog was safe and secure.

What did you look for in a wedding planner?
We wanted a wedding planner who was readily available, flexible with ideas, comfortable with delegating and directing guests and vendors, had personality compatibility with us, and was within our budget. We chose Wilder Mind Events because they checked all the boxes and were eager to get started planning our special day.
When talking about Delaney Driver specifically, I could not sing her praises enough. About a week before the wedding, we were faced with some extremely difficult decisions because of Hurricane Helene. Our reception venue didn’t have power less than 24 hours before the wedding, and Delaney stepped up with several alternative options, providing us with peace of mind and reassurance every step of the way that she would do everything and anything within her power to make this wedding everything we had dreamed of it being.
We ended up completely switching venues several hours before the welcome party started, and everything ended up being absolutely beautiful and unforgettable—all thanks to our amazing, kind, and caring wedding planner Delaney, and the wonderful, dedicated vendors she had connected us with. I cannot thank Delaney and the Wilder Mind Events event planners enough for saving the best day of our lives.

Where did you spend your honeymoon?
We had a small staycation after our wedding, but we’re hoping to go on a real honeymoon sometime this year.
Where did you host your bach parties?
I had my bachelorette in Miami because I’ve always had fun visiting when I lived in Fort Lauderdale. It’s a lively city with plenty to explore! My husband had his bachelor party in Key West because his dad used to take him fishing there when he was young. Also, as he puts it, “It’s really cool with all the chickens running around.”

What did you look for in a wedding photo/ video team?
We wanted to find a photographer and videographer who could capture quality over quantity, with experience in candid shots and artistic angles, all without being distracting. We also wanted someone we felt comfortable with. We immediately felt at ease with J&S Media and knew it would be a great fit.
They did our engagement photos, and we felt so comfortable around Jennifer. On the day of the wedding, I felt relaxed and confident with the videography crew, which helped calm my pre-wedding nerves. We were absolutely ecstatic with the final video. They captured so many precious moments, allowing us to feel like we could relive the best day of our lives every time we watched it.

How would you describe your theme/wedding design inspiration?
We were inspired by romantic, timeless, and elegant aesthetics. We wanted to put a modern twist on a classic wedding that would still be appreciated years from now, even when showing the photos to our children.

Which vendors really exceeded your expectations?
We can honestly say we were thoroughly impressed and incredibly thankful for every single vendor that was a part of our wedding. Despite many of them having damage to their own houses/property from the hurricane, they showed their dedication and adaptability by showing up to and bringing their best.
What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Try not to stress yourself out over the details, and don’t let your worries about “What does everyone else want or like?” determine how you want your wedding day to look and feel. It’s impossible to make everyone happy, but the closest you’ll get to it is by choosing things that make you and your spouse happy and that reflect who you are as a couple. Your wedding guests love you, no matter what color you select the tablecloths to be!
