Kim and Kyle’s Siesta Key Beach wedding featured a romantic, ethereal theme with lush greenery and a soft color palette that complemented the bride and groom’s beautiful destination nuptials.
“We truly wanted a celebration where we not only came together in marriage, but our families came together as well, and we definitely succeeded,” the bride beamed. “Our vision was a classic, romantic wedding with natural muted hues of ivory, gold, blush, navy, and greenery. We wanted simplistic elegance.”

The Missouri couple incorporated personal details such as wine glass favors and wine with the same maiden name as that of the bride; they included the details that mattered most and nixed things that didn’t fit their personality.
“The most important feature of our wedding planning was to keep the celebration fun and intimate. We skipped formal intros at the reception and the garter/bouquet toss,” Kim explained.
When it came to hiring a Sarasota wedding photographer, Kim chose one of the area’s most seasoned veterans.
“We splurged on our photographer, Cat Pennenga Photography! She is the best!” the bride gushed.

Looking back on their wedding day, the couple experienced many memorable moments that left a lasting impression.
“We had our first look at the Ringling Museum’s Ca’ d’Zan tower overlooking the bay. Kyle was there waiting for me. We locked eyes for the first time all dressed in our wedding ensembles and both teared up a bit and finally exhaled,” the bride reminisced. “While we had so much taking photos with our closest friends and family, the ceremony was absolutely a highlight of the day! I would relive Kyle telling me his vows every day! It was as though no one else was there. Though, all the guests were dropping tears right along with me.”
The Proposal:
It was a rainy Saturday, two days after Kyle’s birthday. We had plans to check out the Lantern Festival at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. Kyle asked if I was still interested in going even if it was raining. Of course I wanted to go, even if I had to wear my rain boots! The weather started to clear up while I was getting ready, so I decided to wear a dress. Kyle seemed pleased, but I didn’t think anything of it. We arrived at the Lantern Festival and started exploring. I immediately wanted to stop and start taking photos, but Kyle reminded me we would want photos when the lanterns were all lit up. We started walking past a secret garden off to the side, where a few people were just leaving. There was a young lady in rain boots taking a photo of a beautiful pink rose, and I started thinking, “That will be such a beautiful photo! Color really pops after it rains.” I noticed a throne-like settee at the far end of the garden, so of course I had to sit on it. Kyle asked if I felt like a princess, and I sure did. He then guided me over to a pool directly in the center of the garden, turned to me and said, “Kim.” My initial reaction was to say back, “Yes, Kyle”, but the glistening in his eyes, motioning to his pocket, and then getting down on one knee, put the thought to a halt, and the question never reached my lips. The entire time he was speaking, I was trying so diligently to listen and hang onto every word, and somehow all I can remember is “I love you,” and “Will you marry me?” Off to the side of us, I could hear someone snapping photographs. She was the one wearing rain boots taking the photo of the beautiful rose. Then it occurred to me. He planned this! He knew all day! I couldn’t have been more surprised or happy. We were both so caught up in the moment, Kyle even asked me if I had said yes!
