Megan and Roger met in 2010 while working at CAMP-of-the-WOODS in Speculator, New York. He was a chef and she worked in Human Resources. They started going out with friends, and by the following summer, the pair and become best friends.
“Roger was ready to start dating at the end of that summer, but I wasn’t quite sure, I think I was just nervous!” the bride reminisced. “He told me that I was the one he wanted, and he would wait until I was ready.”
By the fall Megan and Roger and become a couple, and a year later Roger proposed.
“Roger took me to the top of Whiteface, one of the highest mountains in the Adirondacks. We had been talking about going to Lake Placid and taking a drive to the top of the mountain for the past couple months, but little did I know that this was going to be one of the greatest days ever!” Megan gushed. “At the very top of the mountain, he asked me to marry him! I think the first thing I said was ‘Are you kidding me!?‘ I was so excited and quickly said yes after that.”
Staying true to the bride’s roots, Megan and Roger hosted a navy and yellow rustic wedding.
“I am in love with cowboy boots, banana bread, mason jars, country music, family, friends, Roger and Jesus,” the bride shared. “I feel like our wedding was the perfect combination of all of those!”
With the help of her parents, Megan created a lot of the decor for her DIY wedding.
“We ordered real flowers for the centerpieces and then my mom put them all together, and she made all of the burlap runners for the tables,” Megan explained. “One of my favorite things from entire wedding was this huge wooden doorway that my parents made. I walked through it into the ceremony, and then they moved into the reception area for us all to walk through. It was so awesome and added so much to the wedding!”
The bride also had homemade wedding favors.
“I spent a lot of time thinking about the ‘perfect’ wedding favor that someone wouldn’t just throw away as soon as they left the reception. I had the idea to have banana bread baked into little mason jars and have one at each of our guests seats,” Megan said. “One of my friends spent the whole morning of the wedding baking these with my favorite banana bread recipe, my mom’s of course!”
After an exhausting search, the couple finally found perfect wedding venue to host their rustic wedding, Rocking H Ranch.
“I had looked at probably 50 wedding venues and spent countless hours on the internet. I knew in my head what I wanted but just couldn’t seem to find it,” Megan said. “As soon as I pulled into the Rocking H Ranch, I knew this was it! The big oak tree, the barn, the canopy of trees with the bistro lights and the overall feel of the ranch was exactly what I wanted and had pictured in my head.”
Looking back, one of Megan’s most memorable moments was at the start of her Lakeland wedding ceremony.
“When I walked down the aisle and looked up at my man standing there waiting for me and his eyes were welled up with tears, that’s something I will never forget!” the bride reminisced.

“The spiritual elements that were incorporated throughout the wedding and the reception meant a lot to us. My sister and cousin sang the song 10,000 Reasons which is one of my favorite songs and has meant so much to me this past year.” – The Bride
“I tried to make every detail of the wedding personal to who Roger and I are. In lieu of a guest book we had our guests highlight their favorite verse in what is now our family Bible and then had them sign their name next to it.” – The Bride

“Rocking H Ranch is absolutely gorgeous and it has this relaxing laid back yet classy style about it that I love. Angela, the owner, made it so easy for me to make my dreams become a reality. They really wanted us to be able to make our wedding our own, I loved not having a cookie cutter wedding venue where everything had to be the same.” – The Bride
