Blush pink and gold weddings have come a long way from its popular neutral palette. These pastel colors add elegance to any wedding and can even be paired with a dark and moody design.
Thinking outside of the box, Riley Gersch, Tampa Bay wedding planner and owner of Elegant Affairs by Design created a modern, tropical wedding inspiration shoot just steps from Maderia Beach.
“The theme we were looking to capture was dark luxe, romance with a tropical twist,” Riley shared. “We went for maximum impact by incorporating an abundance of greenery, acrylic ghost chairs, and flickering black taper candles. Everything meshed so elegantly and together all of the little details were the perfect mix of modern and luxe in an industrial setting.”

Complementing the modern tropical twist, Save the Date Florida and Set & Styled created a stunning tablescape with black flatware, crystal glassware, and gold detailed place settings. The eclectic decor captured a moody vision dripping with dark and soft tones, while gold and blush accents added a romantic vibe.
From the fresh take on moody-glam decor to the breathtaking reception, everything dazzled, including the dessert table which featured three separate all-black wedding cakes from Tampa Bay Cake Company.
“How else do you make a statement but with an all-black cake?” Emily Lopez, Owner of Tampa Bay Cake Company beamed. “I wanted to do something dramatic and different. The inspiration I was given was black and gold.”
“I decided to use sugar flowers on all three, not only to show my range as a sugar artist but to highlight the idea that everything on your cake should be edible,” Emily added. “I love the look of fresh flowers as much as anyone, but sugar flowers are 100% food safe and if done right can absolutely ‘wow’ your guests! They are also super customizable, and always in season!”

What were your colors?
We opted for a black, gold and blush pairing, with greenery for that tropical twist, which is a newer color blend. The blending of dark and soft tones creates a cohesive flow, so every detail looks like it belongs. This color scheme works for a spring, or winter wedding and I love the idea of having dark colors that can play well with most any venue and provide contrast.
What was your inspiration for this shoot?
I am drawn towards the bright, light and airy aesthetics. I wanted to stretch myself creatively and focus on more of a moody vibe. The gold and blush accents really helped bring out the elegance of the event. Style varies with each couple we work with and it’s important to showcase a different aesthetic than you may be used to seeing from us.
