Outdoor Tampa Bay Wedding | Waterfront Holiday Wedding
Sarah and Max’s outdoor Tampa Bay wedding featured a waterfront wedding ceremony and a reception under the stars.
The bride chose an intimate wedding venue that was full of childhood memories.
“It was very special to us that we got married in my parent’s backyard. It was wonderful to have everyone gathered there and then be able to walk two houses down and continue the celebration,” the bride explained. “We chose Holiday because it’s my hometown, and we chose the venues because of the personal connection to them and their beautiful scenery along the Gulf of Mexico.”
The couple played off of their wedding date to create a Latin inspired menu.
“The wedding was on March 5th, so we lightheartedly called it ‘Cinco de Marzo,’ which worked out perfectly, as we included my favorite drink, the margarita, as the signature cocktail. We wanted to offer something different than the traditional wedding fare, and we love fresh, festive food, so we chose Havana chicken, mojo pork, and Florida grouper with fruit salsa as our main courses, with rice, beans and fried plantains as our sides,” Sarah shared. “Delectables Fine Catering made it all very easy and delivered delicious food and extremely helpful and friendly staff on our big day.”

Since the bride and groom hosted a wedding at a private clubhouse, they needed to rent all of the seating and tables for their guests.
“We used Rent-All City because they were the only local company who had the natural wood folding chairs we wanted for the reception. We rented our ceremony chairs, reception chairs, cocktail hour and reception tables, dance floor and table linens,” the bride explained. “We loved working with Justin; his company had great customer service, nice products and excellent delivery and pick-up staff.”
Looking back, one of Sarah’s most memorable moments occurred thanks to Mother Nature.
“We had a rain plan, but never considered that the wind might be a factor. The morning of the wedding, the wind was decently strong, and during the ceremony, my veil, which my mom made for me, had a mind of its own because of the wind. We couldn’t help but laugh as it flew around while I walked down the aisle, and my maid of honor had to hold it during our vows. Definitely kept us laughing!” the bride reminisced.

How would you describe your theme and colors?
Our theme and colors were soft, subtle and based around the sunset. We loved being able to get married outdoors along the Gulf of Mexico and planned for the ceremony to be just before sunset. We wanted our wedding colors to be light, airy, soft and complement the natural beauty of the colors that were outside that time of day. We chose pale peach, white, ivory, touches of gold and rose gold and lots of greenery in our centerpieces. Also, natural elements of wood and sand kept with the overall outdoor setting on the Gulf of Mexico.
The Proposal:
In late 2014, Max and I were fortunate to have embarked on a seven month cross country road trip. We focused on camping and exploring national parks, and we also visited with as many of our family and friends as possible. It was an unforgettable trip! On a sunny day in May, we traveled to Acadia National Park in Maine. This national park was supposed to be the first stop on our road trip, but RV troubles prevented us from getting there. So while we were up in Maine again, we wanted to make sure to visit. We drove up to beautiful Cadillac Mountain and hiked around to take in all of the amazing views. My dog, Billy, was in tow for the whole event. We made our way to an area off the beaten path, and Max stepped away to act like he was setting up his phone to take a picture of both of us. Turns out, he was actually starting to roll on secret video footage of what was about to happen. When he walked back, he got down on one knee and popped the question. The answer was a big “YES,” and lots of happy tears and celebrating ensued!
