Vintage, Tampa Bay Wedding | Cross Creek Ranch Wedding

Jasmine and Kevin's vintage Tampa Bay wedding featured antique decor, music from the mid-1900's and groomsmen outfits true to the era with wingtips, suspenders and newsboy hats.

“Our theme was primarily 1930’s old time farm with traces of elegant Gatsby. We both love antiques and everything from the books written to the clothing and furniture,” the bride explained. “I had a very neutral palette of muted pinks, browns, vanillas and whites. I chose these colors not only for their elegance, but also for the simplicity. I built the whole palette around a picture of an antique rose bouquet.”

The Clearwater couple focused on making their wedding day reflective of their personalities.

“We are not traditional people, and this was a perfect reflection of our laid back antique store life,” Jasmine shared. “I found clothing unique to that period for my bridal party. We also made sure to choose drinks that reflected that era, such as a bourbon lemonade and a peach moonshine tea.”

Finding an elegant, rustic Tampa Bay wedding venue that could create their vintage atmosphere was a top priority for Jasmine and Kevin.

“We absolutely wanted an old barn look with pops of elegance. We also were looking for a place that held picture opportunities and had an excellent design team to help bring my complete vision to life,” the bride explained. “As soon as we walked into Cross Creek Ranch, we fell in love. Unlike some of the other places that we visited, Cross Creek was classic barn elegant and had beautiful grounds. We also were absolutely taken back by the beauty of the chapel and the amazing oaks. The fantastic design team, especially Jean, took what was in my head for every detail and brought it to life.”

To transport guests back to the early-mid 1900's, the bride and groom hired Tampa Bay wedding DJ Grant Hemond & Associates.

“We were very adamant about the music being from that period, because we just love it. We did not want the traditional and latest dance hits or pop music,” the bride explained. “We chose Grant Hemond & Associates because they could deliver what we wanted. The DJ played tracks such as Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra; it was perfect. They exceeded our expectations and made the perfect 1930's wedding of our dreams complete.”

To complete her look, Jasmine stayed true to the era with with a dramatic 1930's updo and makeup that emphasized the eyebrow and lip.

“I searched and searched for a hair and makeup artist who was familiar with the trends of that era. When I found Michele Renee The Studio, I knew from the pictures on their website that they had conquered the 1930's before. I was instantly in love with their work when I went for my consultation and practice run.”

The Proposal:
Being from the beautiful region of upstate New York, we decided to take a vacation to see my family. We hiked to a small waterfall up a creek that is located behind my dad’s house. I had spent a lot of time there as a child, and it's one of my favorite places in the world. When we reached the destination, Kevin got on one knee in the water and proposed with his great grandmother's early 1900’s mine diamond ring. It was perfect.

What was the inspiration for your hair and makeup?
My inspiration for the hair and makeup was staying true to the era. The hair styles varied greatly in that time from dramatic up dos to simple side sweep ups. The makeup in 1930's really emphasized the eyebrow and lip on pale skin tones.

How would you describe your theme?
Classy, country elegance. Our theme was primarily 1930’s old time farm with traces of elegant Gatsby. Our dream is to restore an old farmhouse replicating this time period and feel. We both love antiques and everything from the books written to the clothing and furniture.

What were your colors?
My colors were reminiscent of the early 1900's. I had a very neutral palette of muted pinks, browns, vanillas and whites. I chose these colors not only for their elegance, but also for the simplicity. I built the whole palette around a picture of an antique rose bouquet.

Three Tiered, Round, Naked Cake with Berry Accents and Monogram Intial Cake Topper | Tampa Wedding Cake and Bakery Alessi Bakery

What was the inspiration for your cake?
As a cake decorator myself, I follow lots of cake trends and quirks. I've always known that I wanted something untraditional. I fell in love with the simplicity and natural appeal of a “naked” cake with sugared fruit. It's rustic, yet elegant and just fit perfect with our 1930's farmhouse elegance theme.

What did you look for in a wedding DJ?
We trusted Cross Creek Ranch to suggest a DJ who would play 1930's/1940's music, original pieces by post-modern jukebox and integrate in classic dance hits at the perfect time. We were very adamant about the music being from that period as well because we just love it. We did not want the traditional and latest dance hits or pop music.

What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Don’t settle. We looked at five different places, even though the price was right, they were not right for us, nor did they have our very specific date open.. When we fell in love with Cross Creek Ranch, but they didn’t have our day open either, but low and behold there was a cancellation, and they called us right away! I am glad we didn’t settle, because we our venue made our special day everything we have ever dreamed of.
