Waterfront St. Pete Wedding | Isla Del Sol Yacht & Country Club Wedding

Vanessa and Karl’s waterfront St. Pete wedding featured a nautical, yet glamorous theme with a color palette of blues, greens and gold accents. We especially adore the personality that the couple placed on their wedding day, including having the bride’s grandmothers as her flower girls.

“Karl and I love boating so a nautical theme was a no brainer, but I wanted it to be original,” the bride explained. “I also wanted it to be a little more formal, so we added as many personal touches as possible and some shimmer!”

With the importance for the bride placed on the ceremony, and of course great food to please the family, the couple chose waterfront St. Petersburg wedding venue Isla Del Sol Yacht & Country Club.

“We looked at a lot of venues. But when Karl and I went to see Isla, it was like, how did we not know about this?! It checked off everything on our list and then some: the beach, marina, golf course, ballroom, dockmaster suite (groom’s room), even the option of a sailboat send off. Plus, you pretty much have the place to yourself!” Vanessa gushed. “They don’t host a ton of weddings in the same day, and once we saw it could fit our budget, it was another no brainer!”

Looking back, the bride’s most memorable moment was setting sail with her groom on a private boat for their unique wedding exit.

“After being so busy and nervous all day, it was great to take off right after the ceremony and be out on the water just us,” the bride reminisced.

What did you look for in a wedding venue?
We wanted to get married on the beach or by the water, have the venue also provide catering and as much services as possible and a reception room with views. I also really wanted a built in dance floor, and Karl needed a groom’s room.

It checked off everything on our list and some: the beach, marina, golf course, ballroom, dockmaster suite (groom’s room), even the option of a sailboat send off. Plus, you pretty much have the place to yourself! They don’t host a ton of weddings in the same day, and once we saw it could fit our budget, it was another no brainer. The food was exceptional. Our guests are still talking about it!

The Proposal:
Karl and I had recently purchased our first home and one day, after a long day at work, I walked in to some champagne on ice, and he proposed to me right there in our living room.

How would you describe your theme?
I always described it as “nautical glamour.” Karl and I love boating, so a nautical theme was a no brainer, but I wanted it to be original. I also wanted it to be a little more formal than Karl did, so we added as much personal touches as possible, and I added some shimmer!

What were your colors?
Choosing colors took me forever! I’m a hairstylist, I like them all (except pink). I wanted to add a color to the nautical theme that I hadn’t already seen all over Pinterest, and I was really liking the greens. I also wanted mis-matched bridesmaid dresses, so I ended up with navy blue, light blues, blue greens and gold accents. It reminded me of the ocean.

What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Get as much done as early as you can. Keep it about the both of you.
