Lindsay and Jason’s vintage downtown St. Pete wedding embodied the bride and groom’s love for their alma mater Florida State University and their hometown.
“Our colors were wine, blush, and gold. I love the richness of the color wine, and it also happens to be a FSU color. It was a beautiful color for our December wedding,” the bride gushed. “I chose blush to balance out the boldness of the color wine and felt it was a great neutral color that tied in nicely with the addition of gold. The gold accent was beautiful on the tables and with all the florals. It adds a vintage and glamorous touch to anything.”
The St. Pete chose multiple event venues to host their wedding day and began the evening with an elegant outdoor garden ceremony at one of the city’s most iconic wedding venues.
“St. Pete has so many great qualities about it and such a great vibe. We wanted to incorporate places we really appreciate in the event,” Lindsay shared. “I wanted the ceremony at the Vinoy Renaissance to play off the beautiful design of the Tea Garden and be classic and romantic, but with a vintage feel. Our setup was facing the fountain. With the building in the background and the flower archways and greenery around all our guests, it was perfect.”

The bride’s high neckline vintage wedding dress was complimented by her loose updo and natural look by Michele Renee The Studio.
“My beauty inspiration was classic, simple, romantic. I have been in many weddings that Michele Renee The Studio was a part of and had good experiences so they were an easy choice for me,” the bride explained.

The bride and groom incorporated aspects of the city in which they met. From the ceremony location down to the food, everything came together with a unique touch.
“We went a non-traditional route with food. We had one of our favorite restaurants, Red Mesa Mercado cater our reception. We go there once a week so when they told me they would cater it, we were both excited!” the bride beamed. “Mattie from Mercado was so great! She helped me customize menus and timelines and came by before set-up and during our event to check-in. I would recommend them any day.”

Searching for a St. Pete wedding photographer, Lindsay and Jason turned to Marry Me Tampa Bay for inspiration and vendor reviews.
“We wanted someone who had their own creative style but would also allow us to also be part of the creative process and not make all the decisions for us. I also wanted someone who was local and appreciated the area as much as we do, so that we could be sure and include some local flare in our photos,” the bride explained. “I had started following Kéra Photography on Instagram before I got engaged and really liked Kéra’s style and perspective. It wasn’t your cookie-cutter staged photos, they all have some life and movement in them that you can instantly see. I also love that she incorporates a lot of the uniqueness of the St.Petersburg area in her work!”

Looking back on their wedding day, Lindsay will always remember a full-circle feeling that occurred during her reception.
“My most memorable moment was the reception once the band started and the sunset. Everything came to life and people were really having a good time while enjoying nice cocktails and conversations with friends,” the bride reminisced.

The Proposal:
Last summer we were in Little Gasparilla Island for a summer trip with Jason’s family, and we decided to take the dogs for a walk along the water and collect shells around sunset. As we were walking and looking at shells, Jason told me I should see this shell he had found. I walked over to see it, and inside it was a ring! So clever!

How would you describe your theme/wedding design inspiration?
The great thing about having the ceremony and reception at different places was that I could incorporate different styles for both. I like a lot of different styles, and the venues we chose allowed us to play with several themes that complimented our style and also the unique features of the venues.
What were your colors?
Wine, blush, and gold. I love the richness of the color wine, and it also happens to be a Florida State University color which Jason and I both like since we both went to FSU for undergrad and are big FSU fans. It was a beautiful color for our December wedding. I chose blush to balance out the boldness of the color wine and felt it was a great neutral color that tied in nicely with the addition of gold. When I reached out to them they were super easy to work with and the proximity made it easy on everyone. Maddie, who I worked with, was very helpful and hands-on. I chose a menu with some of our favorites items, and we wanted to share them with all of our friends and family. The food went over really well too, so it all worked out perfectly.
What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Ask around for referrals and look up reviews on vendors and venues; utilize local blogs, Instagram and Pinterest to collect ideas so you can stay organized because all the planning can be overwhelming in the beginning. Also, make sure you dedicate an adequate amount of time for the planning; there are a lot of logistics involved.
