Romantic Blush Pink, Silver & Grey Davis Islands Garden Club Wedding
Amanda and Joe’s romantic Davis Islands wedding was filled with soft colors, lanterns and candlelit. The couple, who got engaged at Disney, incorporated Disney details throughout their Tampa wedding.
“Our ceremony music was acoustic versions of Disney love songs, our tables were all named after locations in Disney movies and our sign in book and card box were Disney themed as well,” the bride shared.
While the Tampa couple originally wanted to get married in downtown Tampa, the pair fell in love with the romantic feel of the waterfront wedding venue the Davis Islands Garden Club.
“We could do the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception in three distinct places all in the same venue. Downtown Tampa could be seen in the background and it was dog friendly,” Amanda explained.
To bring their decor ideas to life, the pair hired Tampa wedding florist Northside Florist.
“I was looking for a florist who could take our vision and bring it to life in an affordable way. I wanted to incorporate specific lanterns into the centerpieces, so I needed a florist who was willing to work with us and the lanterns that we would be supplying,” the bride said. “I chose Northside Florist based on a glowing recommendation from a friend. They were wonderful to work with, and were very accommodating of all of my requests. They also were great at making a lot of recommendations about the types of flowers that would look best.”
Looking back, one of Amanda’s most memorable moments came at what could have been a very stressful time to some brides.
“We had an outdoor ceremony, and it had just started to drizzle. I was about to have a mild panic attack! My Godmother got up to read a traditional Irish blessing and one of the lines from the poem was ‘may rains fall soft upon your fields.’ It really broke the tension and Joe and I just cracked up,” the bride reminisced.
What did you look for in your wedding florist?
I was looking for a florist who could take our vision and bring it to life in an affordable way. I wanted to incorporate specific lanterns into the centerpieces, so I needed a florist who was willing to work with us and the lanterns that we would be supplying.
I chose Northside Florist based on a glowing recommendation from a friend. They took my breath away and made my wedding look beautiful. I couldn’t be happier with how everything looked.
What made your wedding unique?
My husband’s business partner performed our ceremony. We worked with him to write our entire ceremony from start to finish. It was intimate, emotional, funny and completely unique to us.
The Proposal:
Joe proposed over Labor Day weekend at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort. Although I had always dreamed of a Disney proposal, strolling along the bayou at the Port Orleans Resort was a typical Labor Day occurrence and the proposal was completely unexpected. I have many childhood memories at that resort and was telling Joe about a memory I had under a bridge we were approaching. He said, “Let’s make one more memory under this bridge,” and dropped to one knee.
How would you describe your theme?
We didn’t really have a theme. I was looking to have a very romantic wedding, so I focused on soft colors, lanterns and candlelight. Our colors were blush pink, grey, and silver. Pink is my favorite color, and I chose a blush shade because I was going for a romantic feel. Grey complimented the blush and was an easy choice for fabric and tuxedos and the silver was just a metallic accent to the them both together.
How did you incorporate you and your husband’s personalities into the wedding?
I’m a big Disney fan and our proposal was at Disney, so we sprinkled in a few Disney details throughout the ceremony and reception. Our ceremony music was acoustic versions of Disney love songs, our tables were all named after locations in Disney movies and our sign in book and card box were Disney themed as well.
We couldn’t agree on favor so we decided on his and hers favors; two favors that were unique to each of us. I had tins filed with M&Ms and he had custom labeled hot sauce bottles. We also included our dog in the ceremony as our ring bearer.
What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay Brides?
Pick your vendors wisely. My wedding went off without a hitch because we had some amazing vendors by our sides.
I would also suggest investing in a day of coordinator if you can. Our coordinators made everything come together perfectly and I didn’t have to worry about a thing.
