Gisselle and Dan’s moody and modern South Tampa wedding combined a bold color palette with unique details that paid homage to their funky Tampa Heights roots. The result was a balance of bohemian accents and polished finishes that popped against the stylish backdrop of a new trendy venue.
“Our theme was dark and moody. We felt that it was appropriate for a Fall/October wedding, and it goes with our personalities,” the bride explained. “We chose dark plums, black, and dark greens to bring in the moodiness, and to balance those we added lighter blush and pale pink colors.”
When she started the planning process, Gisselle turned to Marry Me Tampa Bay to help her find the perfect backdrop for her 80-guest celebration.
“Marry Me Tampa Bay helped us find our venue, which was the toughest part of it all. We are very grateful,” the bride raved.
The bride and groom wanted a venue that embodied a modern Tampa vibe with inherent beauty and charm. When they found Hyde House in the beloved Hyde Park Village neighborhood they knew it would be a perfect place to get married.
“We wanted somewhere spacious with a lot of character and gorgeous decor. We chose Hyde House because the venue was exactly what we were looking for. It was modern with intricate designs and gorgeous decor,” Gisselle gushed. “They were very attentive and made the process very easy since food and drinks were also sourced through them.”
In order to create a memorable experience for their guests, the pair prioritized their wedding menu and music selections. Gisselle attributes those details to making their day feel more personalized.
“What made our wedding unique was that we incorporated everything that we love into it. From the food to the signature cocktail (a Tampa-Rita because we love this city so much), down to the desserts and the music, it was a celebration of us in every way,” the bride recalled.
Although the entire day was filled with special memories for the couple, the bride says that their unique ceremony locale is something she will never forget, and neither will their guests.
“The most memorable moment of our wedding was our ceremony in the theatre box room at Hyde House. Everyone still talks about how awesome that space was,” Gisselle reminisced.
The Proposal:
We were in Thailand for my 30th birthday, and three days before returning home I booked a photographer to take some photos of us on the beach in Phuket. Dan waited until our session was almost done, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him.

How would you describe your theme?
Dark and moody. We felt that it was appropriate for a Fall/October wedding, and it goes with our personalities.
What were your colors?
We choose dark plums, black, and dark greens to bring in the moodiness, and to balance those we added lighter blush and pale pink colors.
Where did you spend your honeymoon?
We have not had our honeymoon due to COVID but will be spending it in Bora Bora when the time is right. We choose that location because when we were friends we said that if we were still single a couple of years from then we would go together, and here we are.
What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Make the day about each other. You can get lost in trying to make everyone happy but at the end of the day, this is a celebration of your love and should reflect all the things you love.
