VyVy and Tommy
The Venetian Event Center
“We wanted our theme to be timeless, something we can look back on and still love. We were going for modern elegance. The colors we chose for our wedding were red, pink, and gold. We chose red specifically because red is considered good luck in our culture.” -The Bride
VyVy and Tommy’s Asian-American Tampa wedding combined colorful flora and decor with meaningful cultural traditions for a beautiful and sentimental weekend celebration. The Florida couple enjoyed an intimate Vietnamese tea ceremony before exchanging vows, dining, and dancing surrounded by over 700 of their closest friends and family. From the traditional morning festivities to the evening soirée, a vibrant red was threaded throughout the decor for its striking shade and auspicious properties.
“We both love romance, and we wanted to incorporate a romantic feeling for our guests. The most important elements of our wedding were family and traditions. We wanted to make sure we honored our family as well as each other,” the bride shared. “Our wedding was unique because we did our traditional tea ceremony and wedding ceremony all on the same day. The most memorable moment was our first dance. We danced to High School Musical’s Can I Have This Dance, and it felt like a fairy tale.”

The Bach Party & Honeymoon
“Tommy and I actually did a joint bachelorette, and we hosted it on the second-largest cruise, which was Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas. We chose a cruise because everyone gets to celebrate together with less stress regarding food and entertainment.
We are planning to spend our honeymoon in Japan. We chose this destination because we thought it would be fun to make it an adventure too.”

The Proposal
“Tommy proposed on a beach. He set up a picnic and got on one knee at sunset to pop the question.”

The Hair and Makeup
Femme Akoi Beauty Studio
“My wedding day inspiration was to be timeless and romantic. I chose Femme Akoi Beauty Studio because I really liked their updo hairstyles, and I knew they could achieve that for me.”

The Planning
Coastal Coordinating
“We were looking for someone who is organized, knowledgeable in the wedding industry, detail-oriented, and, most importantly, has strong communication skills.
We specifically chose Coastal Coordinating because Katy Martin made me feel completely taken care of from the start. She understood my vision right away, stayed organized, and handled all the details so I didn’t have to stress. Her team went above and beyond, and her calm, supportive energy made me trust that everything would run smoothly.”

Which vendors really exceeded your expectations?
Posy Exchange really exceeded my expectations because the vision for my heart backdrop for my ceremony came to life. Not only did they add flowers at the altar, which made it even more beautiful, but they also made our wedding favors, which were personalized and delivered beautifully.
What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Really enjoy every minute because it really does go by fast. Also, make sure you eat!
