Blessy and Sachith’s elegant Sarasota Indian wedding paired their vibrant personalities with vintage charm for a navy blue, gold and greenery inspired celebration.
“We are very outdoorsy and vibrant and wanted our wedding to match that. I love natural light and contrast and wanted something very timeless,” the bride shared. “I can look back to my wedding pics and see the colors and how magical it was.”

The couple used Marry Me Tampa Bay while planning their 160-guest Powel Crosley Estate wedding. To research vendors from afar, the South Florida bride used Instagram tags to see real-life examples of their work.
“I looked at a lot of pictures on Marry Me Tampa Bay for inspiration,” Blessy shared. “Our wedding was very sophisticated with vintage old school charm. We used vintage furniture pieces spread along the lawn with gold lanterns on the reception tables. The interesting wood signage blended with the blues and golds leaving the space looking very classy. In addition, we had gorgeous centerpieces with white flowers and touches of greenery.”

Being Floridians, the couple wanted to incorporate the outdoors into their wedding day with a waterfront ceremony and reception.
“Not many Indian weddings are held outside because of how heavy our attire can be, but it was great to have everything outside. We used the inside of the venue for people who wanted to cool off, but overall the weather was perfect,” the bride beamed.
The West Palm Beach couple chose Sarasota wedding planner, Laura Detwiler Events, to create a stress-free day that everyone could enjoy.
“We wanted a wedding planner willing to go above and beyond and be straightforward when it came to planning,” Blessy explained. “We chose Laura Detwiler Events because after reading the reviews from her past brides, she was the best fit for us. Laura went above and beyond. She was very prepared and right on with communication.”

Reminiscing on her wedding, Blessy shared that honoring traditions was one of the most important elements of the day.
“Lighting the lamp, a Sri Lankan tradition, represented bringing two families together, and having prayer and worship from my side symbolized blessings towards the wedding,” the bride explained.

The Proposal:
Sachith proposed in Key West during our six-year anniversary celebration. My backdrop was the sunset, and it was just beautiful. He proposed with a Ceylon Sapphire just like Princess Diana. It was just a dream come true!
What were your colors?
I always loved the navy blue and gold. Very Disney Princess Belle colors without the yellow, but classic.
