Tampa Bay couple Sherri and Casey were engaged in an iconic movie hotel on 12-12-12. The groom surprised Sherri with a unique proposal in Estes Park, Colorado’s famed Stanley Hotel (from the movie The Shining).

“He had the room filled up with red and white roses and handed me a gift. It was a Christmas ornament that said, We’re engaged. Then he pulled out the ring and got down on one knee,” Sherri reminisced.

Casey first noticed Sherri from across the bar at MacDinton’s in downtown St. Pete, so it was fitting that their meeting place was featured in the downtown engagement shoot.

“I’ve lived in St. Pete my whole life, and downtown is our favorite place. We love the historic, small town feel of downtown and wanted to capture some of the places we visit every weekend!” the bride shared. “Many of the places we shot are historic landmarks of St. Petersburg, which is special to us because we love history. The style is simple, but also has a vintage, romantic feel.”

Along with the St. Pete Pier, the bride incorporated her family’s prized Mustang into the engagement shoot.

“When grandpa died he left the mustang to my mom. Our family is so proud of the car and it has won many car shows! I wanted to honor grandpa in my photos and I knew the car would add to the vintage feel,” Sherri explained.

The pair hired St. Petersburg wedding photographer Ashfall Mixed Media to capture their love for the city that Sherri grew up in.

“I knew Ashley from Ashfall was laid back and fun from working with her during college,” Sherri said. “I saw Ashley’s pictures on Facebook and loved the style and creativity of her photos! The couples in her photos look so comfortable, like they can be themselves around Ashley, which makes for special photos.”

The couple are planning a Spring 2014 wedding at the historic St. Pete wedding venue the St. Petersburg Woman’s Club.

“We can’t wait to have both of our families and friends in one place to celebrate with us!” Sherri gushed.
