Jenny and Richard
“We wanted our wedding to feel authentic to us, without feeling overly traditional, and to complement NOVA 535’s beautiful building. Neither of us came into planning with a specific vision of what our wedding should look like. The design naturally came together as we found our venue and chose the details that felt right for us. Our colors were emerald green, sage green, and beige. We both love green, so that part was an easy decision!” -The Bride
Jenny and Richard’s emerald and sage downtown St. Petersburg wedding was a February celebration of the people they love most. The local bride and groom paired an industrial brick venue with their favorite shade of green, then made the day unmistakably their own with tacos and margaritas on the menu and their dog, Max, by their side.
“We were intentional about keeping the traditions that felt meaningful to us and skipping the ones that didn’t, and about the size of our wedding. As much as we would have loved to include more people, we wanted to be able to spend meaningful time with everyone who was there. More than anything, we wanted the wedding to feel like us and celebrate the people who mean the most to us. Having everyone together, including our dog, made it incredibly special,” the bride revealed. “Green is both of our favorite colors, so we incorporated it into our wedding colors and décor.”

The Bach Party & Honeymoon
“We celebrated my bachelorette party in downtown St. Petersburg during our wedding weekend. Having the celebrations in the same area and weekend helped us make the most of our time with everyone who traveled in.
We honeymooned at an all-inclusive resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. We wanted a relaxing getaway with warm weather, beaches, and great access to golf and spas. It was everything we hoped for and more!”
The Venue
NOVA 535
“We wanted a venue close to downtown St. Petersburg or downtown Tampa, with an industrial feel that would photograph beautifully. We also wanted an area our out-of-town guests would enjoy exploring. Allowing our dog to participate and giving us flexibility with vendors and how we approached the day were important considerations.

The Proposal
“We were living in Gainesville at the time and had come back to Tampa for the weekend. Richard planned an evening for us downtown, and we went over to the Tampa Riverwalk, one of our favorite places from when we lived downtown and somewhere we had spent a lot of time together. He was acting a little suspicious, but I was still surprised when he proposed at a beautiful spot along the water, with a photographer discreetly capturing the moment from a distance. Afterward, we went to Armature Works to celebrate with a drink. Little did I know, our family and some close friends were waiting there for a surprise engagement party!”

The Photography
Cinemamouré
“We wanted someone who would feel like a friend and make us comfortable in front of the camera. Beyond loving their work, we wanted someone interested in getting to know us as a couple.
From our first conversation with Brooke Greeley of Cinemamouré, we felt that she wanted to get to know us. That connection made both our engagement session and our wedding day feel relaxed and fun. We also loved her thoughtful touches, including Polaroids from our wedding day and a collection of sneak peeks delivered within 24 hours. Those details made the experience even more special.”

Researching Wedding Vendors
“Marry Me Tampa Bay helped us read couples’ experiences with different venues and see how creatively they used the spaces. It helped us imagine the possibilities for our own day.”

Most Memorable Moments
“One thing we’ll never forget is the weather! We thought a February wedding in Florida would give our northern family members a welcome break from the cold, but it ended up being in the 40s on our wedding day. We certainly hadn’t expected to be panic-buying blankets, renting heaters for the ceremony space, or shivering through wedding party photos. It made for an unforgettable story, and somehow, it still ended up being the perfect day.”

From The Venue
“Jenny and Richard hosted a classic and timeless wedding here with us. They chose rich, deep colors that perfectly accented the venue’s brick and wood textures. They were intentional in creating an incredible experience for their guests, while adding personal touches along the way. By working with some of our favorite vendors, they were able to relax and enjoy the day. We were thrilled to be a part of their story!”

The Experience
“Most of our friends and family live outside the Tampa Bay area, and we had guests travel from all over the U.S. Our biggest priority was creating an experience that celebrated everyone coming together and gave us meaningful time with the people we love.
We chose a nontraditional menu with tacos, margaritas, and gelato, and brought many of our wedding festivities together into one weekend. Our bachelor and bachelorette celebrations, bridal brunch, and welcome party all gave us more opportunities to spend time with the people who traveled to celebrate with us.”

Which vendors really exceeded your expectations?
We were honestly so happy with all of our vendors. 3C’s Catering was incredible and so easy to work with.
Paciugo Gelato and Caffe gave us a fun dessert option while allowing us to spotlight a local business. The team at NOVA 535 also went above and beyond with their organization, support, and care throughout the planning process and wedding day.
What advice would you give to other St. Pete couples?
The Tampa Bay area is full of wonderful businesses and wedding vendors. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box and incorporate local businesses if your venue allows it. There are so many ways to create a day that feels personal to you.
