Lisa and Nick’s Great Gatsby inspired South Tampa wedding featured a gold and bordeaux color palette with a minimalistic theme and “dog of honor.”
“We wanted a formal wedding because the venue is fancy, but at the same time, love the rustic and minimalistic look,” the bride explained. “I loved the deep red color for the bridesmaids’ dresses, and then the flowers and everything came together from there.”
The Fort Lauderdale couple chose to have a Tampa wedding as they are both originally from the area.
“Since most of our family and friends are still in and around Tampa, we thought it would be easier to have the wedding there rather than making everyone travel to South Florida,” the bride shared.
“We wanted someone who was detail-oriented, solution-oriented, creative and responsive. I am very organized and a planner myself, so I didn’t really need anyone to push me along more. We needed [a wedding planner] who could offer advice, ideas and ways to problem solve,” Lisa explained. “I couldn’t have been more pleased with how quickly NK Productions was able to jump into the process and make sure that everything ran seamlessly. They truly made our day amazing and stress-free!”
Looking back, the bride discovered first hand just how much her groom was there to support on her wedding day.
“I fell down the stairs during my first look and then again as Nick and I were announced at our reception for the first time as husband and wife. I didn’t wipe out completely. I caught myself the first time, and Nick helped hold me up the second time since we were holding hands. It was pretty memorable in a good way actually. It was so typical of me. I’m quite the klutz. The fact that I did that, and he just laughed it off with me was pretty special. We don’t take ourselves too seriously; we love to laugh and have fun. I think our wedding was pretty indicative of that,” Lisa reminisced.

How would you describe your theme?
Rustic, Great Gatsby. We wanted a formal wedding because the venue is fancy, but at the same time, love the rustic and minimalistic look.
What were your colors?
Gold and bordeaux. I loved the deep red color for the bridesmaids’ dresses, and then the flowers and everything came together from there. We sort of fell into our colors; it wasn’t anything we had our hearts set on our planned.
What did you look for in a wedding planner?
We wanted someone who was detail-oriented, solution-oriented, creative and responsive. I am very organized and a planner myself, so I didn’t really need anyone to push me along. We needed someone who could offer advice, ideas and ways to problem solve.
I couldn’t have been more pleased with how quickly NK Productions was able to jump into the process and make sure that everything ran seamlessly. I would recommend them to any and everyone; they truly made our day amazing and stress-free!
What did you look for in a wedding DJ?
Someone who would keep everyone on the dance floor.
DJ Doug was awesome, as were the personnel at Grant Hemond & Associates. They called and ran through their typical MC flow and asked for any songs we wanted to hear or that we didn’t want played. He also allowed our crazy friends to sing karaoke at one point, which in fairness, I warned him might happen.
What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Don’t settle for anything less than perfect – it is an important day and too much money to not speak up if things aren’t exactly how you want them. Also, get your dress and your bridesmaids dresses early. I planned the entire wedding in less than five months, so my dress and bridesmaids’ dresses were kind of rushed. I ended up with some tailoring issues with my dress that I had to scramble to get done the week of the wedding because of how late I waited to pick a dress out!
All that being said, I had a lot of fun at our wedding because I was determined to enjoy the day and not let little things stress me out. I was there to marry the man of my dreams and that helped me keep everything in perspective. I’m also probably not your traditional bride; I ended up changing out of my dress halfway through the reception so I could dance more freely! It wasn’t planned- I went upstairs and put on my leggings and getting ready shirt and rocked out my comfy clothes. Soon after, all my bridesmaids did the same. It was awesome!
