A wedding venue with supreme sophistication set upon the waterways of downtown Tampa will leave any couple floating off of their feet. With two locations in Tampa Bay, the Yacht Starship offers a unique waterfront wedding venue. To embody the glamour that the floating event space has to offer, the Yacht’s wedding staff created an “understated glam” styled wedding to showcase the spectacular views and top observation deck with city skyline views.
“We went with a simple yet elegant theme, with a touch of glam,” Jennifer Richardson, Director of Marketing, of the Yacht Starship shared. “Since the wedding takes place on a yacht there’s not a lot of décor needed because of the natural elements: large windows with spectacular views and an open-air top deck for the ceremony. We also wanted to show that you don’t have to go nautical just because you’re on a yacht. The yacht wedding experience can also be elegant and sophisticated.”
Tampa Bay wedding photographer Kristen Marie Photography and videographer Kemari Lyn Films captured the waterfront ceremony and reception, including stunning sunset portraits and sweeping views of the downtown Tampa skyline.
Our real-life couple (and Marry Me Tampa Bay readers) were dressed in a neutral, khaki suit from Sacino’s Formalwear and wedding gown from Nikki’s Glitz and Glam Boutique, which complemented the beautiful updo and natural makeup by Destiny and Light Hair and Makeup Group.
Tampa Bay wedding stationery company A&P Designs created a custom invitation suite with modern script font with a hint of gold foil which complemented the blush pink and white florals by Couture Weddings and More. A Piece of Cake added the final touches with a five-tier wedding cake featuring gold accents.
Shying away from the traditional, nautical look the Yacht Starship’s wedding team partnered with Kate Ryan Event Rentals to design a romantic, yet neutral look.
“Our yachts mainly feature navy, white, golds and silvers, so by showcasing this couples can see they can add practically any color to complement their wedding,” Jennifer explained. “The yacht wedding experience can also be elegant and sophisticated.”

What were your favorite elements of this shoot?
All of it! We loved the sunset bridal portraits on the open-air top deck once we got underway. As always, we enjoyed working with our vendors. They truly help in delivering the best weddings abroad or yachts, and by working together we accomplished a spectacular shoot!

What were your colors?
Gold, blush and a dash of sparkle. We worked with Kate Ryan Event Rentals to decide on the color scheme that worked best with the interior of the yacht. Our yachts mainly feature navy, white, golds and silvers, which are all neutrals, so by showcasing this, couples can see they add practically any color to complement their wedding.

What was your inspiration for this shoot?
Since we’re a sea-based company we naturally see a lot of nautical themed weddings in popular wedding colors such as gold, ivory and blush. However, we wanted to showcase a less-themed wedding. We are more than just a wedding on boat. There is no better place to experience Tampa Bay’s beauty and charm. Yacht StarShip’s luxury yachts feature star-quality service, out-of-this-world views, entertainment and four-star cuisine freshly prepared by our Executive Chef and galley staff.
