Kimberly and Jacob
Chapel of the Holy Cross and The Current Hotel
“We went for a modern, coastal theme that felt timeless. The ceremony at Chapel of the Holy Cross was bright and elegant, and the reception at The CURRENT Hotel brought in those beautiful waterfront views in a modern setting.
We used different shades of blue, from light-blue hydrangeas to navy-blue bridesmaid dresses, with a few gold accents to add a little warmth. The blue tones tied everything back to the water, and the gold details added some sparkle.”
-The Bride
Kimberly and Jacob’s chic Tampa Bay wedding combined a coastal palette of watery blue tones and pristine white befitting their Florida setting. The Pinellas bride and groom exchanged traditional vows in a Catholic church before hosting their 100 treasured guests in a modern waterfront ballroom reception.
“We incorporated our personalities by creating a wedding that felt elegant, welcoming, and true to our values,” the bride detailed. “Faith was at the center of the day through our traditional Catholic ceremony, while our reception highlighted our love for the Tampa Bay area with beautiful waterfront views and local touches like the Jolley Trolley. We also focused on creating memorable experiences for our guests, including freshly-baked cannolis that quickly became a favorite.”

The Bach Party and Honeymoon
“ I hosted my bachelorette party in Charleston, SC. We chose Charleston for the charming downtown, great food, and fun activities.
We spent our honeymoon in Rome, Italy. We wanted to spend a week in a city that had a lot to explore while also having some downtime to relax and eat well.”

The Proposal
“Jake proposed at Fleming’s Steakhouse in Tampa, exactly one year after our first date there. Returning to the place where our relationship began made the proposal especially meaningful and the perfect way to start the next chapter of our lives.”

The Ceremony

“The details of our traditional Catholic wedding ceremony, from the readings and vows to the music, held the most importance to us. Celebrating the sacrament of marriage surrounded by our family and friends made the ceremony incredibly meaningful and set the tone for the rest of the evening.
The most memorable moment of the day was our ceremony at the Chapel of the Holy Cross on Jesuit High School’s campus. Walking down the aisle, exchanging vows, and celebrating the sacrament of marriage surrounded by our family and friends was incredibly meaningful. The beautiful music provided by our string quartet, flutist, organist, and cantor made the ceremony even more memorable.”

The Hair and Makeup
Adore Bridal
“I was going for a timeless and classic feel for my wedding hair and makeup. My goal, especially with my makeup, was to feel like an elevated version of myself.
I hired Adore Bridal for my wedding hair and bridesmaid hair and makeup because they had fantastic reviews online. Their team made us feel very comfortable while getting ready and everyone looked beautiful! My mom did my makeup for my wedding day, which was a special moment for both of us.”

Researching Wedding Vendors
“We used Marry Me Tampa Bay to search for local wedding venues along with floral and decor inspiration. Once we chose our venue, we used the site to find prior weddings at The CURRENT for floor plan and other ideas.”

The Design

From The Venue
“What I loved most about Kimberly and Jacob’s wedding was their attention to detail and the various vendors they had at their wedding, from the hanging floral arch from the ballroom ceiling to the tableside cannolis. Their wedding was truly a dream.”

The Reception
The CURRENT Hotel
“We were looking for a venue that was convenient for our guests, close to the church where we held our ceremony, and easily accessible from the airport for those traveling from out of town. Since our wedding was in January, we also wanted an indoor venue with outdoor space where guests could enjoy Florida’s beautiful winter weather.
We loved how The CURRENT’s location is outside of the city and right on Tampa Bay, giving both a city and vacation feel for our guests. We were also looking for a venue with exceptional food, service, and a team that genuinely cared about making our day special.”

The Entertainment

Grant Hemond & Associates
“We were looking for a wedding DJ who had fun energy and could keep the flow of the reception running smoothly without taking over the spotlight.
Grant Hemond & Associates had really great reviews online, and after speaking with DJ Adam and learning more about his style, we felt comfortable booking him. He did an incredible job keeping the reception flowing and the dance floor was packed all night.”
Which vendors really exceeded your expectations?
Our photographer, Jonathan Fanning, exceeded our expectations from our engagement photos through our wedding day. He made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera, and the photos turned out wonderful! Jennie’s Flowers also blew us away with the floral arrangements for our reception, specifically the floral chandelier above the dance floor.
What advice would you give to other Tampa couples?
The timeline and overall flow of the day are some of the most important aspects of a wedding. We spent a lot of time planning ours to ensure everything felt smooth and guests were engaged throughout the celebration. Investing time upfront in the timeline helped us relax and enjoy the day, knowing everything was well organized.
