Kim and Danny’s Safety Harbor wedding perfectly nailed a simplistic, modern vintage theme with pops of color and elegant decor. The bride and groom incorporated some precious family traditions with a few touches of their own that added just the right amount of flair.
“I have always been a Gatsby girl at heart, but Danny’s style is modern. We decided to meet in the middle by going with a modern, vintage theme,” the bride shared.
The couple chose a rich color palette of sapphire, smoke, plum, Marsala, and black to complement their Great Gatsby meets present-day style.

The bride wanted a modern look that played off a vintage style, so she searched for a Tampa Bay wedding hair and makeup artist who had experience with different ethnicities.
“I wanted someone with experience and could work on Asian eyes. It sounds silly, but not every makeup artist can place and blend eyeshadow properly on Asian eyes,” the bride explained. “I hired Michele Renee The Studio because I loved all of their work and styles. They had the bold, modern vintage look that I was looking for. Anastasia was my makeup artist, and she listened to exactly what I wanted. We had some last-minute guests that needed their makeup completed, and Anastasia and her team stayed to help these guests feel glamorous.”

Reminiscing on their wedding day, Kim and Danny couldn’t help but feel so much joy and love from a day filled with unforgettable memories.
“It’s hard to pick a favorite memory so I guess I’d say everything! There is not a thing that Danny or I would change about our special day,” Kim reminisced. “We got to meet awesome people who brought so much positive and robust energy to our wedding. It filled our hearts with so much joy to see our loved ones taking a break from their busy lives to just let loose and enjoy the day. While the majority of us couldn’t dance, we made it work.”
What were your wedding hair and makeup inspiration?
Modern, vintage. I have always loved the Great Gatsby style, but my husband is more of a modernist. For a wedding and makeup team, I wanted someone with experience and could work on Asian eyes. It sounds silly, but not every makeup artist can place and blend eyeshadows properly on Asian eyes.

The Proposal:
We booked a family vacation with Danny’s best man, Brian and his wife Kim, along with my bridesmaid, Kathy and her at the time boyfriend. It was a five-day cruise from Galveston, Texas to Cozumel and Progresso, Mexico. When we had the formal dinner night, Danny wanted to tour the boat, so we went to the second floor. If anyone knows me, they know that I am the most awkward person when it comes to saying sweet things or being romantic in general. So when Danny began to profess his love to me, I corrected him on how long we have actually been dating. He was already nervous, so this threw off his whole speech, and he just said, “Will you marry me?” I felt horrible afterward, and the worst part is we have it on video, and he still plays it to this day to remind me.
The sweetest thing that I remember is he made a little black box to hide my ring in it. Since I usually do the packing for our vacation, he concealed it in this box and hid the box in his suit. He made sure the box was thin enough to where I would not notice when I rolled his suit.
What was your theme?
Modern, vintage. I have always been a Gatsby girl at heart, but Danny’s style is modern. We decided to meet in the middle by going with a modern, vintage theme.
What were your colors?
Sapphire, smoke, plum, marsala, and black.
What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples planning their wedding?
Invest in a wedding planner. Even if you are a calm, laid back person, it is one of the most stressful experiences. You will have disputes and arguments about the smallest details for the wedding. Having a wedding planner can help you with these disputes. They also remember all the little details that you forget. For example, I forgot about the wedding cake and florists. If it wasn’t for my planner reminding me, my guests would not have had a cake, and we would not have had flowers. Also, several issues arose during the wedding, but neither I nor the guests noticed, I only knew of them once they were resolved. Plus, your wedding planner will know which vendors work well together and which ones may not work well. For our wedding, there was so much positive energy, and I felt that our vendors help create this because they all got along so well.
