Melanie and Kenny’s timeless downtown Tampa wedding featured a neutral color palette of grey, ivory, taupe, and gold to capture their classic yet modern celebration. Combining their Catholic backgrounds and quirky personalities, the bride and groom had a traditional church ceremony and an elegant reception with personal touches.
“We both wanted a traditional Catholic wedding with subtle quirky details to match our goofy personalities,” the bride shared. “Our cake was Funfetti flavored and included a cake topper of a bride touching the groom’s butt, while our programs had fun FAQs about us! We love having a good time so we really wanted to make sure our guests did too!”
The ceremony took place at the iconic Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by an elegant reception at a nearby private club.
“We wanted to keep our religion in our wedding and in our marriage. Sacred Heart is such a breathtaking church and reminds me of tradition,” Melanie explained. “I used Marry Me Tampa Bay to read more about Sacred Heart and other venues to find one that would suit us best.”

Making their planning and easy and convenient for their 160-person guest list, the Spring Hill couple was drawn to modern wedding venue Centre Club for their complete wedding packages, on-site wedding coordinator and laid back style.
“We were really interested in the Centre Club because they were an all-inclusive venue. Everything was covered from drinks to food to rental fees. The final cost is based on the total number of guests, and there are no hidden fees or extra costs,” the bride gushed. “It was absolutely amazing how they coordinate just about everything! They take care of the tables, chairs, linens, and more. They really are a one-stop shop when it comes to the bigger picture. Working with Elizabeth from the Centre Club was amazing. She was a ninja at ensuring everything went smoothly and how I had envisioned it.”

Reminiscing of their special day, the bride and groom cherished the little moments and being surrounded by friends and family.
“The cake cutting was so memorable because the only request Kenny had made was that the cake was Funfetti flavored. I lied and told him it was vanilla. When we cut the first slice he saw that his once request was granted. He was surely surprised and excited,” the bride reminisced. “I also really cherished those little memories that weren’t necessarily photographed. Before we walked down the aisle, my bridesmaids and I did a prayer and it was extra special to take that time out of the chaos of the big day.”
The Proposal:
We went to our favorite restaurant with our families, and Kenny had a beautiful speech that was a real tear jerker! Of course, It was an easy, “Yes!” He knew how much it meant to me to have my parents there, so I truly appreciated being surrounded by family during such a special time.
How would you describe your theme/wedding design inspiration?

What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Start your ceremony as early as possible! We started our ceremony at 2 p.m. which worked well for us because it gave us that one-on-one time to really enjoy our special day together. During planning stages, learn to build relationships with your spouse and families. Also, take a moment during the day to just sit back and watch everyone having a great time! It truly goes by too fast!
