Marcela and Pierre’s vintage downtown St. Pete wedding perfectly combined their Mexican and American cultures to capture a celebration full of romance and unique tradition. Choosing a pastel color palette, the bride incorporated gorgeous succulents and geometric decor to add some modern flair to the sweet celebration.
“I knew I wanted a modern and romantic wedding,” the bride shared. “Our venues inspired my vintage and romantic décor while still adding a modern flair with gorgeous succulents geometric details.”

During the planning process, the bride looked to Marry Me Tampa Bay for inspiration and advice on local vendors.
“The site helped me chose a venue and my makeup artists,” Marcela shared.
The couple searched for a St. Pete wedding photographer who was “well priced, talented, and created visual stories.”

Looking back on their big day, the couple enjoyed letting loose and celebrating the day they worked so hard to put together.
“The most memorable moment for us was just being able to dance and enjoy life with all our loved ones. We’ve never had everyone we care about in one room, so being able to have everyone all together was pretty amazing! You could say we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!” Marcela gushed.
The Proposal:
The proposal was simple, yet intimate. On our four-year anniversary, Pierre gave me the surprise of a lifetime. He blindfolded me, took me to a pier overlooking a lake, and whispered kind words into my ear. Moments later, he told me to turn around and undo the blindfold. I did as requested, and there he was on one knee in the middle of candles shaped like a heart, asking me to marry him! It was a huge and magical surprise. Of course, I said “Yes!”
How would you describe your theme/wedding design inspiration?
I knew I wanted a modern and romantic wedding. Our venues inspired my vintage and romantic décor while still adding a modern flair with gorgeous succulents geometric details.
What were your colors?
I love pastels. It was very important for me to make sure each girl felt comfortable with the dress they’d be wearing. I had nine bridesmaids, and they’re all so different! I knew choosing a designer and two sets of colors would give them the ability to find something that made them excited and happy to wear. Giving them this option was the right choice because they all ending up choosing something comfortable that perfectly suited their skin tone.
What did you look for in a wedding photographer?
Good usage of natural light was important for me. I love the photos that are well-lit and tell a story all-in-one. I wanted to make sure I hired a photographer who was in budget, talented, and created breathtaking visual stories. I’d say we got all that, and more! When we finally saw how beautiful our photos came out, we were over the moon.

What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Don’t forget to stop and enjoy your unforgettable day. Try not to let anything ruin it and remember to have fun! Although I didn’t always enjoy wedding planning, I have to say I’m actually having withdrawals! The little moments are the ones you don’t forget, so don’t forget to smell the roses. Believe me, you will wish you could do it all over again!
