Purple and Teal St. Pete Beach Wedding | Tradewinds Wedding
Katie and Joey's St. Pete Beach wedding was elegant, with a hint of rock n' roll. Katie's tattoos (including Joey's lips below her collarbone) gave her Maggie Sottero wedding dress an edge. Her vibrant purple and teal flowers, bright blue shoes and bold bridesmaid dresses perfectly complemented the peacock themed wedding.
“I think peacocks are so beautiful and elegant. When I was picking out the theme, I wanted to make sure it was something fun: a little crazy, loud and just all around beautiful,” the bride shared. “I think those qualities are what make our relationship, and I wanted that to show through our theme.”
The Palm Harbor couple grew up near St. Pete Beach and Katie vividly remembers family vacations at her future wedding venue.
“We chose Tradewinds on St. Pete Beach is because it holds a special place in my heart. I grew up going there almost every weekend. I just have very fond memories spending time there,” the bride explained. “And now I have the best day of our lives as a memory from there too!”
While searching for a St. Pete wedding planner, Katie found Exquisite Events, which happened to also be in the in-house wedding planner for her beachside wedding venue.
“Our wedding planner for “day of” coordination actually came with our venue, which was awesome! After planning the whole event for the last year, I wanted to make sure on our wedding day we didn’t have to do anything but show up and get ready,” the bride said. “I had heard wonderful things about Exquisite Events and actually had them on a list of coordinators to choose from before finding out that they came with our venue. They were absolutely amazing and made sure everything was perfect for us!”
Looking back, one of the bride's most memorable moments was during the reception speeches.
“My husband’s brother, the best man, definitely gave the best speech of the night. His jokes are still brought up today,” Katie reminisced. “The whole night was perfect!”
Why did you hire a wedding planner?
Our wedding planner for ‘day of' coordination actually came with renting our venue, which was awesome! If our venue did not come with a “day of” coordinator, we definitely would have hired one. After planning the whole event for the last year, I wanted to make sure on our wedding day we didn’t have to do anything but show up and get ready.

Joey proposed at our home with just the two of us. I had just gotten home from work and was not having the best day. I was in the kitchen talking, really venting about my day, and when I turned around he was there on one knee. He asked if I would marry him, and I screamed of course!
How would you describe your theme?
Peacocks. I think the birds are so beautiful and elegant. When I was picking out the theme, I wanted to make sure it was something fun: a little crazy, loud and just all around beautiful.
I think those qualities are what make our relationship, and I wanted that to show through our theme.
What were your colors?
Purple, teal and beige. I chose those three colors, because I felt they stood out the most and really were just the prettiest out of the peacock color scheme. I also think purple and teal really complement each other and the beige just rang it all in.
Also, purple is a flattering color for all girls, and I wanted to make sure each bridesmaid felt equally beautiful in their dress.
What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay Brides?
Make sure you enjoy the planning process and really the bliss of being engaged. I was so busy planning and making sure everything was going to be perfect, that I missed the actual bliss of being engaged sometimes.
Also, try not to stress on your wedding day. Everything WILL turn out perfect, and just the way it should be.
