Nautical Waterfront Tampa Wedding | Yacht StarShip Wedding

Sara and Dairby's waterfront Tampa wedding featured a navy, light pink and ivory color palette and nautical elements.

“Our theme centered around starfish, and was subtly nautical,” the bride shared. “We chose our color combination because I have always been a pink girl; no other color would ever do for me. The navy gives the nautical feel and my husband is definitely not a pink person. So, the colors were a little bit for me and a little bit for him.”

The Ruskin couple searched for a venue convenient to the airport for out-of-town guests and a location that would offer plenty of activities and nearby accommodations.

“We had originally wanted a beach wedding, but being teachers and needing to have the wedding in the summer because of our jobs, we figured July in Florida at the beach may not be comfortable for our guests due to the heat and possibility of bad weather,” Sara explained. “The Yacht StarShip gave us the open Florida feel but provided an air-conditioned space for comfort. We could not have picked a better venue. We are both Sci-Fi geeks and what could have been a better venue than one called, StarShip. Beam us up!”

What did you look for in a wedding venue?
The venue was the most important decision we had to make. We wanted our guests to be comfortable. We had wanted a beach wedding, but being teachers and needing to have the wedding in the summer because of work, we figured July in Florida at the beach may not be comfortable for our guests due to the heat and possibility of bad weather.

The Yacht StarShip gave us the open Florida feel, but provided an air-conditioned space for comfort. We wanted something unique to give our guests a night to remember. They were fabulous! They made us feel like they truly wanted us there and were extremely accommodating to every idea we wanted to incorporate. We could not have picked a better venue. We got personal attention, amazing food, and an outstanding experience.

How would you describe your theme?
Our theme was starfish and subtly nautical.

What were your colors?
Light pink, ivory and navy. We chose that combination because I have always been a pink girl; no other color would ever do for me. Navy gives the nautical feel and the carpet in the venue is navy, so it made the look completely cohesive. Also,  and my husband is definitely not a pink person, so the colors were a little bit for me and a little bit for him.

The decor:
We used white table linens with pink and white floral arrangements on each table. One arrangement was long and low rectangular with pink roses and white hydrangeas. At the ends of the rectangular units were tall bud vases with white and pink cushion poms. The other tables had two pedestal containers with pink standard roses, football mums, and cushion poms with salal.

All tables had votive candles holders with flameless candles sitting in a nest of crushed seashells. Pink sea urchins, white starfish and small white shells were running down the tables in a ribbon row and scattered around the florals, on the cake and gift tables. The head table had a long garland of white hydrangea, pink roses, pink snap dragons, cushion poms, ivy leather and salal cascading over the front and sides of the table. It was breathtaking!
