Nautical, Waterfront St. Petersburg Wedding | Yacht StarShip Wedding
Jeff and Andrew’s waterfront St. Pete wedding featured a navy, nautical theme, with bright pops of color.
“We are ocean lovers, and I am a marine geologist,” the groom explained.
The same-sex St. Petersburg couple wow’d their wedding guests with a non-traditional Tampa Bay wedding venue that highlighted their hometown.
“We decided to have the wedding in St. Pete because we love the area and wanted to show our family and friends how wonderful of a city it is. We knew we wanted something unique for a wedding venue, especially if people were coming from out-of-town, state and country,” Jeff explained. “The wedding was on a boat, as it seemed natural for the setting and fit both of our personalities.”
In addition to their venue’s unique location, the same-sex couple also looked for an event space that focused on customer service.
“The Yacht StarShip checked all of our boxes. We were especially impressed with how open they were to host our wedding. We felt comfortable from the minute we walked in; other venues did not show us the same interest or excitement as Yacht StarShip,” the groom shared. “The customer service was amazing; they made the planning process a breeze and took care of everything. It was perfect.”
Looking back, one of Jeff and Andrew’s most memorable moments was proclaiming their love for one another.
“We loved saying our vows to each other in front of the people we love. Having everyone together was really meaningful to us,” Jeff reminisced.
The Proposal:
I proposed to Andrew at Sugarloaf Ski Resort in Maine. We had talked about getting engaged for a while and decided we would buy each other rings so we were both prepared when the day came. I secretly purchased two rings (one for myself and one for Andrew). That evening we went for a walk; and as we crossed a bridge in a wooded area over a frozen brook, I asked Andrew to marry me. He said yes, but was sad that he didn’t have a ring for me, I told him to reach inside his jacket where he would find a ring I prepositioned for him to give me.
What did you look for in a wedding venue?
We knew we wanted something unique for a wedding venue, especially if people were coming from out-of-town, state and country.
The Yacht StarShip checked all of our boxes. We were especially impressed with how open they were to host our wedding. The customer service was amazing; they took an interest in us as soon as we walked in to tour the boat. Other venues did not show us the same interest or excitement as Yacht Starship. We felt comfortable from the minute we walked in. Thanks to Wendy and Eric and the whole Yacht StarShip crew! They made made the planning process a breeze and took care of everything. It was perfect.
How would you describe your theme?
We chose a nautical theme for the wedding. We are ocean lovers, and I am a marine geologist. The wedding was on a boat, as it seemed natural for the setting and fit both our personalities.
What were your colors?
Navy blue, red and yellow. We both love navy blue; it’s masculine and fit well with our theme. We had hints of red and yellow to add splashes of color.
What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Slow down and enjoy the planning process together. It can be stressful at times, but it’s so rewarding. It’s a great time to take a break from every day life and spend some quality time together. The time goes by so fast, so really embrace everything that goes into the planning process.
