When we heard that Jennifer Lopez’s new movie, Marry Me has the same name as our publication, we had to celebrate by showcasing some over-the-top wedding dresses inspired by J Lo’s iconic style.

We teamed up with Universal Pictures to create a bridal look inspired by Jennifer Lopez’s character, Kat Valdez. Creating a wedding dress for a megastar, the costume design team strayed away from traditional white wedding attire and gravitated toward volume and excess by choosing a rose gold dress covered in metallic shimmer.

“We wanted to find a dress that was larger-than-life, really romantic, but also couture—not a dress that anyone has ever seen the likes of,” Caroline Duncan, Marry Me’s costume designer shared. “We dressed Jennifer in custom pieces. She wore a beaded,
asymmetrical gown; It’s one of the most exquisite gowns I’ve ever seen in life. The veil is massive, and the dress has eight layers of horsehair, five other layers of tulle. It weighs about 95 pounds and takes five people to carry it.”

To recreate the look for our Daytime Tv segment, we asked Tampa Bay bridal shop Truly Forever Bridal to choose gowns inspired by the lavish look.

The Allure gown, modeled by Shawntay, is a fully beaded old Hollywood design that is full of shimmer. The Art Deco-inspired dress featured thin beaded straps that lead into a plunging low V back, giving it a sultry look, while the sheer gown hugs the body and accentuates her curves. The beaded headband from Michele Renee The Studio was the perfect accent to complete the sophisticated look, while the peach bouquet from FH Weddings and Events featured long whispy stems to keep your eye flowing down the gown.

The two mannequins featured designs from Truly Forever Bridal‘s private label collection, a sophisticated fit and flare gown for the daring and sensual bride with its intricate crystal beadwork and plunging V-shape neckline and a luminous flowing ballgown featuring detailed beaded vines throughout. Its elegant u-shaped neckline and thin straps give it a romantic feel.

Model, Paulina, wore s stunning a-Line dress made of tulle and organza to provide lots of volume. The textured beadwork designs climbs the bodice of the dress, while the plunging sweetheart neckline with its sheer back creates a sensual style.  A-line dresses are the most flattering of all styles by cinching in your waist.

Hair and makeup artists Michele Renee The Studio created a Sex and the City-inspired hairpiece featuring pink feathers and white flowers and a pink shimmer eye.

Our final model, Gabi, was adorned in a Truly Forever private label dress fit for a star! The luxurious fully beaded ballgown features a high illusion neckline with a plunging sophisticated sweetheart shape. The sheer long sleeves are covered with intricate and delicate beadwork that match the entire dress as it sparkles with every move. The deep red bouquet with black velvet ribbon from FH Weddings and Events complemented the model’s rich hair color to provide a pop of color and drama.
