Anne and Jonathan, paramedics for a local fire station, met at work and discovered they both have a penchant for pretzel M&Ms.
“I had brought some from home, and Jonathan had run out when he asked me for a few. The next morning he came in and found a bag of M&M’s on his desk,” Anne explained.
That thoughtful gesture led to hours of conversation and eventually the couple’s first date.
“As the relationship progressed, we started to recognize all of the qualities we ever wanted in the other person. We turned into best friends and did everything together,” Anne shared.
To celebrate their two-year anniversary, the couple took an after dinner walk on the beach, then spent the evening relaxing by the water.
“As we laid out a blanket and looked up at the stars, Jonathan started to ask several questions, ‘Hey babe, do you love me enough to. . .do my laundry?’ I laughed and told him, ‘Babe I already do your laundry!'”
“He continued with questions about whether I loved him enough to do all the daily things I take care of, when he stopped and asked ‘Do you love me enough to marry me?‘ At this question I froze and eventually stopped holding my breath and answered, ‘Of course I love you enough to marry you.’ He pulled the ring out and in that moment asked me to be his wife,” Anne reminisced.
“Coincidentally, right down the beach, someone was shooting off fireworks and that exact moment they exploded in the sky,” Anne said. “He likes to tell me he had planned it that way. . .and I usually let him have that!”
The Tampa Bay couple opted for a modern St. Petersburg damask wedding, with a pop of color.
“Both of us very much gravitate towards modern shapes, colors and styles so we tried to show that throughout our wedding theme,” Anne explained. “We found a bright modern lime green and decided to incorporate it in the flowers, place settings, groomsmen’s ties and of course our Chuck Taylor shoes!’
“We were blown away at how amazing the inside was. The minute you step through the door it just opens up into this totally open, modern space. It was unlike anything we’d ever seen: the brick walls, the art hung from steel cable, a beautiful bamboo outside, and open ceiling. NOVA 535 was the perfect choice for us,” Anne gushed.
Along with choosing visually appealing decor that matched their preferences, the couple also played personalized wedding music.
“Both my husband and myself have a fun, quirky side and we love doing things that represent that. We decided to use non-traditional wedding music for everything from the bride and groom announcement, which happened to be “Can’t Stand It” by Never Shout Never and Ben Folds “The Luckiest” for my walk down the aisle,” Anne said. “The most important things to us on our wedding day revolved around our personalities shining through our choices, and creating a day that we would remember forever.”
Looking back, the couple’s most memorable moment came during their wedding reception entrance.
“As we came down the stairs, our guests were on their feet cheering and clapping; it was an amazing feeling seeing every one of them supporting our love and celebrating our new life,” Anne reminisced. “It was completely overwhelming in the best way possible.”

We decided to incorporate a bright lime green color into the wedding in the form of slip-on Chuck Taylor Converse shoes for everyone including the bride and groom. They made for amazing pictures and they were so much fun!” – The Bride
“Our wedding was unique in a lot of ways, but it all started with NOVA 535. Without having found that venue, we wouldn’t have been able to create the perfect wedding. It fit all of our wants and needs, and we wouldn’t change a thing.” – The Bride

What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay Brides?
My biggest recommendation, other than to use NOVA 535 as a venue, would be to stay organized and don’t forget to relax!
Wedding planning is so stressful and without having a list I would never have been able to stay on top of vendors and appointments. We probably wouldn’t have had a wedding to be honest! It takes so much work and so much out of you, that you have to remember to stop and relax once in a while. You can’t forget to enjoy the process and take in all the emotion you feel! It’s such an amazing time, and I think if you can’t be happy through the whole process, you’ll forget the reason you were getting married in the first place.
It’s supposed to be fun, enjoy it!
