Christina and John's downtown St. Pete wedding was filled with a color palette of purples, pinks and blues for their modern, whimsical reception.
“We don't take ourselves too seriously, so we thought our wedding should reflect that attitude,” the bride shared. “Certain minor details were important to me, like our custom cake topper. It consisted of figurines of John, Pearson, myself and our pets. The girl pets wore veils, and the boy pets wore bow ties.”
The St. Petersburg couple chose to wed locally to accommodate their many friends and family, and also because they love all that St. Pete has to offer. Searching for a wedding venue that was large enough for their guest list, the couple selected NOVA 535.
“We wanted a place to go well with our personalities. We chose NOVA 535 because of its central location and versatility,” Christina explained. “We loved the exposed brick and the interesting lighting schemes NOVA had to offer.”
The Proposal:
We were on a ski vacation in Big Sky, Montana. John carried the ring around while skiing for five full days before he found the right moment! It was a cloudy day, and we were alone on a ski run called Trembler. About halfway down the ski run, he stopped and took his skis off. I didn't know what he was doing! Then, he said the most beautiful things about us and our relationship, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! No lie, right after he proposed, the clouds parted and the sun came out. An older couple stopped to take a picture, so we have a lovely picture of the exact spot where he proposed.
How would you describe your theme?
We wanted elegance with whimsy. We don't take ourselves too seriously, so we thought our wedding should reflect that attitude.
What were your colors?
Dusty purples, pinks, blues. I just like purple.
What did you look for in a wedding venue?
We wanted a place to go well with our personalities.

What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Weddings require lots of coordination by lots of people. Things will probably go wrong at your wedding. Don't sweat the small stuff. Try to go with the flow, and focus on the joy of the day instead of dwelling on tiny details that don't matter. In the end, what matters is that you're married!
