Spring is in the air, flowers are blooming, and all of the natural beauty in the sunshine state is on display during Florida’s sweetest months. Designing wedding inspiration that blends elegance and romance is expected, but Kelly Kennedy, owner of Kelly Kennedy Weddings and Events, took on the challenge to infuse modern floral-inspired style into a classic South Tampa wedding venue.
“Our theme would be described as dreamy, luxurious, and timeliness. We chose this theme because the venue is so elegant and timeless; we wanted to create a romantic setting to do right with the venue,” the wedding planner and designer shared. “We wanted to provide something new and fresh and tried to stay away from Pinterest to create that. We originally played off of the colors in sherbert and wanted to use this as a walking tool for the rest of the design.”

A color palette of blue, yellow, peach, and gold were brought together for a fresh take on romantic elegance. Lush floral accents decorated the historic staircase to the 1920’s event venue, while modern gold circle back chairs brought in a chic look to the timeless ceremony setup.
For a stunning transition from ceremony to reception, the clear acrylic sweetheart table provided a focal point in front of the dramatic blue draped backdrop. Vibrant pink and peach flower petals were scattered across the floor to complement the gold accents and table decor greenery, while clear chargers and glassware with gold rims from Kate Ryan Event Rentals perfectly showcased the velvety softness of the luxurious table linens.
“We loved how Kate Ryan’s place setting inventory allowed us to have the elegance that put the finishing touches on the design,” Kelly explained.

In keeping with a timeless aesthetic, the wedding planner intertwined unique elements with traditional favorites. Modern-day mobile catering with the classic delicacies of Prosecco and Gelato created a fun and youthful cocktail hour providing a unique experience for guests.
“Creating elegance but having fun with it is truly what designers love! We had fun with the details; unique menu cards, the ribbon used as table numbers and seat assignments for each place setting, incorporating gelato/sorbet into the place setting, having a champagne cart because why not?” Kelly gushed. “Making the ceremony and sweetheart table a true show stopper was unique!”

Blue, yellow, peach with gold.
What was your inspiration for this shoot?
We wanted to provide something new and fresh and tried to stay away from Pinterest to create that. We originally played off of the colors in sherbert and wanted to use this as a walking tool for the rest of the design.
What unique elements did you incorporate into the shoot?
We had a lot of fun in this area. We used velvet linen that occupied all of us by just running our hands back and forth on the fabric! We had fun with the details; unique menu cards, the ribbon used as table numbers and seat assignments for each place setting, incorporating gelato/sorbet into the place setting, having a champagne cart because ‘why not’! Making the ceremony and sweetheart table a true show stopper! Creating elegance but having fun with it is truly what designers love!
What were your favorite elements of this shoot?
Honestly, the entire vendor team was my favorite element of the shoot. Everyone involved absolutely went above and beyond! From the bridal accessories to the garnishes in the sorbet to the flat lays, it was all so perfect!
