Navy Blue and Blush Pink Waterfront St. Petersburg Wedding | Isla del Sol Yacht and Country Club

Jennifer and Rob’s St. Petersburg wedding focused on sharing their love with the most important people in their lives, while incorporating personal touches throughout.

“It was important to bring the people closest to us together and share who we are with them,” the bride explained. “We wanted a day full of love and fun and incorporated pieces of us into different aspects of the day: the church I grew up in, food from my husband’s Polish heritage, as well as Buffalo, New York favorites and pictures of family members who’ve passed, but shaped who we are. It was our once in a lifetime chance to bring both sides of our families together and share the love we have for one another.”

The bride and groom searched for a waterfront St. Petersburg wedding venue that could provide a resort-like atmosphere, but in an intimate setting.

“We wanted a wedding venue that fit the Florida feel, but with privacy. We live in a beautiful state and were having a January wedding with guests coming from up north, so it was important to us to have windows showing our beautiful state and the opportunity to be outside and enjoy the awesome weather,” Jennifer shared. “Isla Del Sol Yacht & Country Club had everything we were looking for: privacy, golf course, water views, open floor plan, outdoor space overlooking the water for cocktail hour and a wedding coordinator we wanted to work with. It had the Florida feel without the typical tourist crowd you see with other beach venues. It was like we were on our own private little island at Isla. Just a perfect place!”

To bring their navy blue, blush pink and champagne gold vision to reality, the pair hired St. Petersburg wedding florist Iza’s Flowers.

“Without having knowledge of flower costs, my hope was to work with someone who could educate and guide me through the process through their own expertise, while ensuring I stayed within budget,” the bride explained. “Iza took the time to understand what I wanted, while giving her professional opinion on certain things for me to consider. I felt like I could trust her from the start and was open to her ideas on how to bring my floral arrangements to life, while staying within my budget. Walking into our reception that day took our breath away. Everything was tied together beautifully.”

Hiring a St. Petersburg wedding photographer who was the right fit for Jennifer and Rob was a challenging task, but worth the extra effort.

“The photographer search for us took the longest in our wedding planning process. We would meet with photographers who had beautiful photos, but then just didn’t vibe well. Being that the photographer would spend all day with us on our wedding day, it was important to ensure we were comfortable being ourselves with this person,” the bride explained. “Early in our meeting with Jeff [of Jeff Mason Photography], both my husband and I knew he was the photographer for us. Jeff was attentive to what was most important to us.  It was an easy going conversation with honesty from both sides, and his photos were amazing.”

What did you look for in a wedding florist and what was your inspiration?
We were looking for a florist who could help bring what we envisioned to reality. Without having knowledge of flower costs and such, my hope was to work with someone who could educate and guide me through the process through their own expertise, while ensuring I stayed within budget. I gravitated to what I’d say is simple and elegant, yet girly.  I’ve always loved hydrangeas and their fullness. I wanted to add in some color and bring my pink side to make them pop.

Within minutes into our meeting with Iza’s Flowers I knew I wanted to work with Iza for our wedding. She took the time to understand what I wanted, while giving her professional opinion on certain things for me to consider. I felt like I could trust her from the start and was open to her ideas on how to bring my floral arrangements to life, while staying within my budget. Their service was superior, they were prompt and did beautiful work. Iza’s Flowers also were extremely flexible and easy to work with, especially when I called only two days before the wedding, as I had forgotten to discuss the pipe and drape I needed. It was not a problem and the team quickly added on this request. Walking into our reception that day took our breath away. Everything was tied together beautifully.

Isla Del Sol Yacht & Country Club had everything we were looking for: privacy, golf course, water views, open floor plan, outdoor space overlooking the water for cocktail hour and a wedding coordinator we wanted to work with. It was perfect for the vibe we were going for and a private location for the most important people in our lives to be together celebrating our marriage. It had the Florida feel without the typical tourist crowd you see with other beach venues. It was like we were on our own private little island at Isla. Just a perfect place! I knew immediately when we met Melissa [at Isla del Sol] that I wanted to work with her. The food and service was amazing! We still have guests telling us how delicious the food was and how accommodating and wonderful the staff treated them. The team at Isla went out of their way to accommodate our requests and help make a truly perfect day for us. They executed everything beautifully and better than I could have imagined. I can’t say enough great things about this venue!

What did you look for in a wedding photographer?
We were looking for a photographer who was passionate, detail oriented, within our budget and made us feel comfortable. The photographer search for us took the longest in our wedding planning process. We would meet with photographers who had beautiful photos, but then just didn’t vibe well. Being that the photographer would spend all day with us on our wedding day, it was important to ensure we were comfortable being ourselves with this person and in front of their camera. Early in our meeting with Jeff [of Jeff Mason Photography], both my husband and I knew he was the photographer for us. It was an easy going conversation with honesty from both sides, and his photos were amazing. You could tell he was passionate about his work and took the time to really get to know us and understand who we were and what we envisioned for our day. We never once felt uneasy in front of the camera, and Jeff was attentive to what was most important to us. He was wonderful to work with and delivered exactly what we were looking for.

How would you describe your theme?
Although our reception was on the water, we did not have a beach wedding, nor bring in beach/nautical aspects. We just wanted to have a day that best represented us and our style: colors we both liked and food and drinks that were more than just good. We wanted our wedding to have meaning to us and bring everyone together to enjoy our beautiful home.

What were your colors?
Navy blue, blush pink and champagne gold. We wanted colors that worked well together, but also represented us. Rob’s one color request was blue; it’s his favorite. I wanted my girly side and to bring in a feminine touch with the blush pink, and the champagne gold was our accent color to bring an elegant feel.

What did you look for in a wedding DJ?
We were looking for someone who was fun, respectful and mind conscious of the crowd and our style. No karaoke for this reception!

Contact Grant Hemond and Associates

Grant Hemond & Associates has such an outstanding reputation from vendors in the industry and from friends who have used them, so we knew we weren’t going to search around. It was just a matter of determining which DJ was right for us. They were extremely thorough from the first call up until the end of the wedding night. We selected many of our songs ourselves, and Michael went above and beyond to ensure all were played. He was even able to get us the Buffalo Bills Shout song rendition, which was probably my husband’s biggest request being a die hard fan. To top it off, my sister-in-law had a surprise gift on the dance floor, an autographed Buffalo Bills helmet, and Michael didn’t miss a beat starting up the touchdown song immediately after.

Elegant Red Outdoor Tampa Wedding | Tampa Palms Golf and Country Club

Michelle and Kenny’s Tampa wedding featured elements that reflected their personalities, include the bride’s love for birds.

“We did not have an actual theme, but rather just incorporated things that were important to us,” the bride explained. “Birds are one of my favorite animals, so there were several owls and love birds throughout the wedding. There was a stamp signing with owls in a tree, owls as our cake topper and love birds on the card cage.”

While the bride and groom currently live in Tallahassee, they grew up in the Tampa Bay area and wanted to be close to friends and family while saying their “I do’s.”

“It made more sense to have our wedding in Tampa to decrease everyone’s travel time,” Michelle said. “Plus, Tampa has more options for wedding vendors.”

Finding a Tampa wedding venue that made the couple a main priority was important to Michelle and Kenny, who booked Tampa Palms Golf and Country Club.

“We preferred to have both the ceremony and reception in one place for convenience. We also wanted a venue that only had one wedding per day, so the focus was on our special day,” the bride explained. “Tampa Palms Golf and Country Club was the first venue that we looked at for the wedding. My husband and I are members of ClubCorp and knew the food was good; we are both foodies. While we were touring the facility, we discovered that the venue is a hotel with 24 rooms. It was great because it allowed most of our guests to stay on-site and not have to travel. Tampa Palms made our entire day perfect; all of our guests were happy and enjoyed themselves.”

The bride shared that the first look was one of the most important parts of the day, and she chose Jeff Mason Photography to capture the special moment.

“I was looking for a photographer who was able to get beautiful shots that could capture the day as it was happening. I wanted photos that looked more candid, even if they were posed,” Michelle explained. “I discovered Jeff Mason Photography on Marry Me Tampa Bay and loved his portfolio. Everything that he said was what I had envisioned, without me even telling him. Jeff was very professional and very quick to respond to any emails and questions, which is very important to me. He captured our first look, ceremony and first surprise dance perfectly. I love looking at my wedding photos and would definitely recommend booking him.”

What did you look for in a wedding photographer?
I was looking for a photographer who was able to get beautiful shots that could capture the day as it was happening. I wanted photos that looked more candid, even if they were posed. It was also important to have a second photographer that could capture other moments. I discovered Jeff Mason Photography on Marry Me Tampa Bay and loved his portfolio. He was very accommodating to discuss my wedding vision for over an hour. Everything that he said was what I had envisioned, without me even telling him. Jeff was very professional and very quick to respond to any emails and questions, which is very important to me. He captured our first look, ceremony and first surprise dance perfectly. What were your colors?
Gold, red, champagne and ivory. I always wanted to incorporate red in my wedding, and since my husband is a huge Florida State fan, it made sense to have the gold. The champagne and ivory were great accents.
