In the vibrant setting of Ybor City, a collaboration of over 150 vendors collaborated on a unique wedding tour experience across six distinct venues, each steeped in the rich history of the locale. This joint effort highlighted the unique character of each setting, with a specially selected team of vendors working together to craft inspirational designs.
Ashley Johnson, the owner and Lead Planner of B Eventful, helmed this creative journey for J.C. Newman Cigar Co. while masterfully bringing to life an organic-inspired wedding theme.
“Our theme was boho and earth tone vibes. We wanted a design that leaned into the natural aesthetic of the historical building,” the wedding planner explained. “Our colors were ivory, sand, yellow, red, and terracotta.”
Accentuating the 1900s architecture of the country’s oldest family-owned cigar factory, the modern finishes and industrial charm provided the perfect backdrop for the first stop in the historical venue tour. The event began as guests were greeted with a champagne wall before they made their way into the courtyard that was set up for an intimate ceremony and luxurious lounge.
“J.C. Newman was our theme! Our goal was to build our theme around the venue’s current vibe. We wanted to add to the current aesthetic,” the planner gushed.
After enjoying their welcome drink, B Eventful ushered attendees across the street, where cocktail hour commenced on the first floor of a three-story brick building. Inside, the museum offered an interactive experience showcasing the storied history of cigar rolling in Ybor City while Breezin’ Entertainment provided live music to set the mood.
“This wedding would be perfect for a couple seeking bold statement pieces, color, and a unique experience compared to traditional wedding styles,” the planner detailed. “When looking to recreate this theme for an actual wedding, you would need to consider you have booked the best vendors to fully execute this vision, as it took a unique combination of vendors working together to create it.”
Embracing a fusion of contemporary flair and timeless elegance, B Eventful curated a wedding design that stood out for its bold departure from traditional palettes. The cross-back rentals from Kate Ryan Event Rentals were the perfect added touch of elegance.
“We leaned into more bolder colors while keeping traditional neutral colors in the mix. Traditionally, there are full tablescapes, but we chose unique flatware, china, and glassware in lieu of the typical black, acrylic, gold, or silver you see traditionally,” Ashley shared. “We wanted to have a twist on the classic elements you see in today’s weddings, so we selected bolder and more unique place settings with our flatware, china, and glassware. However, we kept some classic elements like candles and greenery.”
Adore Bridal Hair and Makeup created a soft and effortless glam that complemented the bride’s chic pulled-back hairstyle. With a summertime outdoor ceremony, an airbrush makeup technique ensured the makeup lasted the entirety of the day.
Looking back on her cherished parts of the day, the planner and designer shared that the effort put in by the incredible vendor team truly brought the event together.
“My favorite elements were the hanging lighting feature created by Westover Flowers and Spark Weddings and Events and the beautiful rental pieces provided by Treasury Rentals, Kate Ryan Event Rentals, and Southern Event Rentals,” Ashley beamed.
