Olivia and Yasin met through a mutual friend while attending the University of South Florida.
“We started off as friends, doing nearly everything together and soon began dating,” Olivia shared. “Throughout the time we dated, we had to deal with what seemed like an eternity during the summer, when we would be apart because of summer break from school. We would try to visit each other as much as possible, I lived in Tampa, he lived in Orlando, and we made it through those few summers strong.”
After almost three years of dating, Yasin proposed while celebrating Olivia’s graduation.
“We walked up to the rooftop of Timpano’s to look out at the view. That is where he said I was moving on to a new chapter in my life, and he didn’t want to be left behind. Then he proposed! I was so surprised!” Olivia reminisced. “We had always discussed getting married after I graduated, but I wasn’t expecting anything that night! I was so elated, said Yes, put the beautiful ring on and listened to Train’s Marry Me.
The Tampa bride and groom planned a quick wedding and wanted a non-hotel Tampa wedding venue.
“The Yacht StarShip was perfect! We were able to have a very small wedding, and we all loved being on the water!” the bride gushed. “We couldn’t have asked for a more fun, cooperative and supportive staff for that special day. They were so attentive to all of our needs and made sure everything ran smoothly that day. We were able to relax and simply enjoy the event instead of worrying about details. They really took care of us!”
Although she didn’t marry in a church, Olivia wanted to incorporate her Catholic upbringing.
“The most important element for us was the ceremony. As a Catholic, I wanted the ceremony to be spiritual and for our vows to be very traditional,” the bride said. “We were overjoyed that the Yacht StarShip gave us the option of having those spiritual vows and the captain also read a bible passage! The flexibility to customize our ceremony was important to us both.”
“My husband is simpler and I am more into upscale elements,” Olivia explained. “We had touches of glam factors such as jewel encrusted brooches on the flowers and for the mothers, diamonds on the tables and diamonds in the centerpieces.”
Looking back, one of Olivia’s most memorable moments came during her Tampa wedding reception.
“We had so much fun dancing together to celebrate the day,” the bride shared.
