Outdoor Rustic Tampa Bay Wedding | Backyard Wedding
Tracy and David’s backyard Tampa Bay wedding featured a rustic and romantic theme with a colorful peach, cream and orange palette.
“Since it was an outdoor wedding, it was already a beautiful setting in itself. In trying to be the most cost effective as possible, we were able to gather many of our details from trees that David had from his tree removal business. We used tree stumps as a primary decoration: the pergola (that David and one of his best friends built together), the aisle of the ceremony, the centerpieces and there was even a beer/water cooler made out of a giant hollowed out tree stump. We had fun being able to create a lot of these details together,” the bride gushed.
The Holiday couple searched for a Tampa Bay wedding videographer who could capture their wedding day story perfectly.
“I watched so many trailers from different videographers, but I was looking for someone who also captured the audio and could condense six hours of footage and still tell the story of our wedding. Brett of Hatfield Productions is very passionate with his work. Overall our happiness was so beautifully captured!” Tracy gushed. “Brett definitely knows what he is doing, and he created a true work of art for us. Watching that video brings me right back to the day of, and all the feelings of joy and happiness can instantly be felt all over again! It is something that will be treasured forever!”
Knowing that their wedding music would represent a large part of their personality and have a big impact on the night, the couple hired Tampa Bay wedding DJ Grant Hemond & Associates.
“We picked very chill music for the cocktail and dinner hours and upbeat dance music for the rest of the night. We wanted a DJ who would keep the party going, appreciate our music suggestions, play what we asked them to, and respect the “no” list as well,” Tracy explained. “We had been to other events where Grant Hemond & Associates had DJ’d and always had a good time, plus they are professional!”

Searching for affordable rental items that would complete the look of their backyard affair, the bride opted for linens to complement their blush, peach and orange color palette from Tampa Bay wedding rental company Custom Linens.
“We built an entire venue from the ground up. It was a complete open field and we needed everything! My wedding planner found Custom Linens for us, and I went with her to meet with the owner, Chris. We were in and out of there within 20 minutes. It was quick and painless and exactly what we needed for color options.”
Looking back, the bride’s most cherished memories were exchanging her vows with her husband and ending the night being carried over the threshold to their home.
“Saying our vows and ‘I do’ were memorable because we became more than just a husband and wife, we became a family. As we heard the last song of the night come on, we ran together to the dance floor, and he lifted me up and spun me around in the middle,” Tracy reminisced. “David carried me into the house, and it was captured by the photographer and videographer, since the event was basically at our home.”
The Proposal:
The week before, without my knowing, David had taken my dad to breakfast while I was at work and had asked him permission to marry me.
We went to North Carolina the day after Christmas and planned to spend New Year’s Eve in Gatlinburg. When we arrived in Gatlinburg it wasn’t the best weather, but David wanted to go on the SkyLift. On the way back down from the SkyLift, he distracted my attention, and when I turned back towards him, he had out the ring and asked me to marry him. Of course I said, “Yes!”
How would you describe your theme?
Rustic, romantic. Since it was an outdoor wedding, it was already a beautiful setting in itself. In trying to be most cost effective as possible, we were able to gather many of our details from trees that David had from his tree removal business. We were able to use tree stumps as a primary decoration: the pergola (that David and one of his best friends built together), the aisle of the ceremony, the centerpieces and there was even a beer/water cooler made out of a giant hollowed out tree stump. We had fun being able to create a lot of these details together.
What were your colors?
Navy and all different shades of peaches and creams, with a pop of orange. It was all about that springtime feel.

What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Don’t go cheap on your photographer or videographer (if you choose to have one), this will be all you have to look back on. It truly goes so fast! Steal a minute to step back with your new spouse and take it all in. Don’t sweat the small stuff, things won’t always go exactly to plan and it’s ok, because at the end of the day you will still be married to your best friend!
