Nia and Savva’s luxurious and whimsical Tarpon Springs wedding was filled with an abundance of white florals, lush greenery and glistening adornments of gold accents that celebrated the couple and their Greek backgrounds.
“I don’t like when things feel too put together; I was looking for organic and asymmetrical designs,” the bride shared. “I always wanted my wedding to be flooded with white florals and greenery, accented by gold. That combination is everlasting and classic. I didn’t want to look back at my wedding in ten years and think, ‘”Ugh why did I choose those colors?'”
The native Tarpon Springs couple had a guest list of over 980, with nearly 800 in attendance. With their families’ deep cultural roots in the area, it was important that they honor their heritage and celebrate near their home.
“Savva and I both come from Greek backgrounds and both of our families are from the same small island in Greece called Kalymnos. Our wedding was either going to be in Kalymnos, Greece or Tarpon Springs, FL – our two homes,” the bride shared. “We chose Tarpon because we had close relatives that weren’t healthy enough to travel to Greece for the wedding, and it was important for them to be there and celebrate with us!”
With an utmost importance on everyone having fun and setting the vibe of the event with beautiful decor, the couple turned to Gabro Event Services to transform their ballroom into an oasis. Lavish floor to ceiling draping and captivating uplighting enhanced the ambiance of the decor and large reception hall.
“I am very detail oriented and I wanted my wedding to be the same. My personality was incorporated through the main design of the wedding décor,” Nia explained. “The draping adding a tremendous amount to the ambience; we draped the whole room. We wanted you to feel like you were somewhere else. Kabe [of Gabro Event Services] was confident in his capabilities, and he definitely reached all of our expectations!”
Complementing the regal look of the ballroom, the bride choose an all white look for her bridal party.
“I wanted my girls to look classic, and I really think each one looked absolutely beautiful!” Nia gushed. “Bridesmaids dresses are hard to pick because I feel like they all look similar until you try them on. We tried a few on, and they were okay, but then the employee at Bella Bridesmaids recommended trying these on, and I wasn’t crazy about them. But once the girls put them on I loved them, so I am really thankful for them recommending dresses. They know best because they see these dresses on so many women. Bella was so helpful in the process and the owner, Timeka, was the sweetest!”
Looking back on their incredible wedding day, Nia reminisced on her most cherished memory.
“The most memorable moment was walking down that aisle with Savva; there’s nothing like the feeling of marrying your best friend and exiting together as one!”
Savva and I have been together since we were 15-years-old. The Spring Bayou in Tarpon Springs was “our” spot where we would break up, as well as get back together. It was the place where things would end, but start right back up. There are a lot of emotional memories there for us. With all those years under our belt, of course I would always think about how Savva would someday propose, and the bayou always came to mind. It would be perfect spot to wrap up our past and start our next journey together, our forever journey! Well guess what…that is where he asked! Relationships aren’t perfect, and I never wanted to pretend ours was; the bayou wasn’t always the perfect place for us, but it was OUR place, and it had so much meaning behind it. It was the perfect place for us and our story.
Savva and my family planned it all because he had them decorate that morning. They hung lanterns and white flowers all over this large tree branch that hung above a picnic bench, overlooking the water with champagne that had a sidewalk leading up to it that said “Nia will you marry me?” It was so cute, and I cried right away when I saw it all. Savva, knowing I’m obsessed with photos, had a photographer hidden to catch it all. I loved our proposal photos so much that I then hired the photographer for our wedding!

Your wedding is going to be one of the most important and memorable days of your life, but it is also just one day! I would catch myself getting so hung up and stressed about small things and remembering that always helped me come back to reality.
