“Our wedding was simple and minimalist. Our colors were mainly white, with touches of green and a hint of blue flowers. The venue had beautiful brick walls, so white seemed like a nice touch.” -The Bride
Priscilla and Duncan’s classic Ybor City wedding was a relaxed and meaningful May celebration shared with 120 of their closest family and friends. The couple exchanged vows at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church before continuing the celebration at the historic J.C. Newman Cigar Company in Ybor City. Designed with a simple, minimal aesthetic of white blooms, touches of greenery, and a soft blue color palette, their day focused on creating a fun, laid-back atmosphere where guests could truly enjoy the moment.

The Details
“We live in Tampa, FL, and chose this area because it’s where we currently reside. We are both pretty relaxed and chill, and we wanted our wedding to just be a fun time for everyone.
The ceremony was at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in downtown Tampa. The staff there was amazing, and Father Reese was great. Marrying each other and having our loved ones around was the most important element, and everything else was a nice bonus.
A unique fact about our wedding was that the violinist we hired for our cocktail hour played popular pop hits instead of classical music, which our guests really enjoyed.”

The Proposal
“Our favorite time together is cuddled up on the couch with our two dogs, watching tv. The proposal was very intimate, just the two of us in the living room with our pups. It was the most perfect proposal, no fluff or extravagant show-off event – just us two alone together.”

The Bach Party & Honeymoon
“The bachelorette was in New York City. It is my hometown. My husband went to Banff, Canada, and spent his time skiing with his friends.
We had a long weekend mini-moon in Tulum, Mexico, during the summer. Our actual honeymoon will be this upcoming December, we are going to ski in Austria and spend Christmas Eve and Christmas in Vienna.”

The Venue
J.C. Newman Cigar Co.
“Lots of space and natural light were important to us during our venue search, and J.C. Newman Cigar Co. blew us away! You get the whole building for your event, and it has a very historic Ybor vibe.
The museum on the first floor, used for our cocktail hour, was an amazing touch, as was the cigar lounge on the third floor. We are over the moon with the service from J.C. Newman Cigar Co. The venue came with a day of coordination (Jaelyn), and everything was handled to perfection. If anything went wrong, we didn’t even notice because the coordinator was so on top of it. The most memorable moment was seeing everyone be in awe of the venue. We highly recommend!”

The Design

“Our wedding was simple and minimalist. The venue spoke for itself, and it helped reduce costs. Our colors were mainly white, with touches of green and a hint of blue flowers. The venue had beautiful brick walls, so white seemed like a nice touch.”

Which vendors really exceeded your expectations?
Everyone was amazing! From the makeup artist, photographer, bartenders, venue, coordinator, florist, DJ, violinist, and caterer.
What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Don’t take everything so seriously. This is an event celebrating your union with everyone you love. Enjoy your wedding and don’t sweat all the small stuff that may go wrong; it goes by so fast. Also, if you can DIY some things to save money, then do it!
