Burgundy and Greenery Christmas Inspired Downtown St. Pete Wedding | NOVA 535

Tampa Bay Wedding Planning Advice Group
Kelsey and Bobby's downtown St. Pete wedding was a beautiful blend of classic Christmas colors with a rustic-chic design that delivered a winter wonderland atmosphere.

“We were both born and raised here in St. Petersburg, Florida. This is the city we met and where we started our story. As much as I would have loved a wedding in the middle of a giant field somewhere in Tennessee, we never really thought twice about having it here,” Kelsey explained. “We are both outdoor, down-to-earth, but also old-school people, so we knew we would have a traditional, classy wedding, with a little country thrown in there.”

The St. Pete couple envisioned hiring a St. Pete wedding photographer who would match their laidback energy while helping them look natural and effortless in front of the camera.

“Honestly, I wasn’t sure what exactly I was looking for going into the meeting with Shauna and Jordon Photography. But within the first five minutes of talking with them, I knew 100% that they had the job. I mean, we just clicked. Although they’re the type of people to pretty much ‘click' with anyone, I like to think we’re special,” Kelsey beamed. “It just felt like we had been friends for years after our hour meeting.”

While searching for a downtown St. Pete venue that would accommodate their wedding of 190 guests, Kelsey desired a location that would complement her late December wedding theme, with her earthy sense of style.

“I got really lucky because there’s not much around here that can both fit my style and the number of people we had. The first venue I looked at, NOVA 535, was perfect. Our cocktail hour was held outside, and the inside was dark, but not too dark. It had beautiful brick walls and unfinished ceilings. I knew it was the one right when I walked in,” the bride gushed. “NOVA was absolutely great to work with! I told Ruby everything I wanted, exactly how I wanted it, and she made it happen. As stressful as it was, being my own wedding planner, she definitely made everything venue related and the actual wedding day stress-free!”

Looking back on one of the most important days of her life, Kelsey cherished the simple moments that she shared with Bobby.

“It was towards the end of the reception and I knew the night was soon coming to an inevitable end, when Then by Brad Paisley came on. Bobby and I started dancing, I laid my head on his shoulder, and tears started running down my face. All I could think of in that exact moment, for the three minutes of the song, was how thankful I am to God for bringing us to each other eight years ago,” the bride reminisced. “I couldn’t believe that almost 200 people came to celebrate our love, a love that I cannot wait to show our kids one day. A love that all those people had been witnessing grow for eight years. As cheesy as it sounds, I hope I never forget those three minutes.”

The Proposal:
I went on a girls' trip with my mom and sister. After we checked into our hotel, the first thing on our to-do list was to see the Rockefeller tree. I had been to New York City a ton of times, but I had never seen the tree. When we got there, I was taking a picture with my mom when I turned and saw Bobby right in front of me. Before I could ask what the heck he was doing there, he got down on one knee and said, “Kelsey Angela, you’re the love of my life, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” I ugly cried. Then obviously said YASSSSSS!

What did you look for in a wedding photographer?
Honestly, I wasn’t sure what exactly I was looking for going into the meeting with Shauna and Jordon Photography. But within the first five minutes of talking with them, I knew 100% that they had the job. I actually kept finding myself talking to them as if we had already hired them throughout the meeting, and in the end, Shauna said, “So if you end up going with us…” and I said, “Oh, I forgot I’m supposed to tell you, we picked y’all…like 30 minutes ago.”

I mean, we just clicked. Although they’re the type of people to pretty much “click” with anyone, I like to think we’re special. It just felt like we had been friends for years after our hour meeting. They are just those people who get along with anyone/everyone and make you feel like you’re the only person in the room. Even though that’s their job, it’s different with them, probably because it doesn’t seem forced. It just comes easy. Their service? Let’s just say I know, probably around 8-9 couples who have gotten engaged since we met Shauna and Jordon, and I have recommended them to every single one of them. Probably more importantly, since our engagement session with Shauna and Jordon, which was in the spring of 2018, I’ve had at least five brides ask me for my photographer’s contact information. As I give them the contact info, I let them know that they are booking two years out so they should get on it!

How would you describe your theme/wedding design inspiration?
Rustic-chic. Lots of greenery. I like earthy tones and greenery in florals.

What were your colors?
My bridesmaids were in garnet/burgundy and the groomsmen were in grey suits with burgundy bow ties. For the most part, our florals were white with lots of greenery, but there was some burgundy in some of the centerpieces.
