Inspired by Florida’s signature citrus, this whimsical meets rustic wedding inspiration shoot will brighten any couple’s day with its joyful vibes and vibrant colors. Channeling local orange groves and the surrounding rustic atmosphere, the wedding decor incorporated citric nods all throughout the details of the day.
“The theme for this styled shoot was tropical citrus, but we later gave it the nickname ‘tropical joy.’ With the pandemic and shutdowns, we really wanted to come back with something that was colorful, cheerful, and Florida fun!” Stephanie of Stephanie Lanni Photo explained. “Beginning with the inspiration of blue skies and oranges, I started from there and with the creative help of the vendors involved, came up with a plan to celebrate that theme to the full extent including a colorful handmade palm tree arch, citrus themed drinks, orange themed stationery, and a bright and colorful bouquet.”

The vibrant and playful color palette reflected Florida’s tropical vibes in addition to the hues seen in a fiery sunset.
“The main colors were brighter pinks, oranges, yellows, sky-inspired blues, and lots of palm greenery. The goal was to be cheerful, sunny, and full of life!” Stephanie beamed. “Florida is known for being the orange state, so we incorporated all types of citrus colors and palm tree vibes.”

The styling went beyond just the fresh and fruity color scheme; each detail was thoughtfully curated to reflect the citrus theme.
“I absolutely loved the citrus elements: handmade oranges on the cake by the Tampa Bay Cake Company, citrus-theme custom cocktails, sliced citrus for the table runner, oranges on the invitation suite, and place cards pinned to citrus fruits. Everything tied together in a themed way without being overwhelming,” Stephanie recalled. “Another special touch was including the couple’s dog, Moose. Moose jumped right up on a reception chair to be included in photos, and it was the most adorable thing ever. He had on a little custom Tuxedo.”

What was your inspiration for this shoot?
My inspiration came from visiting an orange grove in Florida right before quarantine began and really dreaming up what a happy, citrus themed wedding would be like while still being classy and not cheesy. Once I got the idea going, I worked with the event planner to help me really formulate a plan to bring it all to life.
