Michelle and Michael’s waterfront St. Pete wedding featured an Old Florida inspired theme with a glamorous color palette of tropical colors and a splash of gold.
“My husband and I are both Floridians, so we both agreed on that theme because it was a big part of us. He grew up on the water, always boating and being on the water, so getting married on the water was important to him,” the bride shared. “My mom and I did all of the planning together. We incorporated vintage Florida and St. Pete postcards on the tables and to take home as favors.”

Keeping her decor simple yet classy, Michelle focused on tropical, bird of paradise flowers and Florida oranges to incorporate throughout her wedding decor and centerpieces. The bride was a Marry Me Tampa Bay reader and discovered real wedding inspiration for her venue, as well as her St. Pete wedding photographer Kristen Marie Photography.
“I wanted a photographer I was comfortable with, and who would capture traditional and beautiful photos. I read many reviews before I chose Kristen Marie Photography. As soon as I met her, I knew I had chosen the right photographer for us,” Michelle gushed. “She captured the most amazing sunset background for our engagement photos, and I loved her personality and how she interacted with us. I knew we would be using a lot of sky, sunset, and ocean backgrounds, and she captured all of those exactly as I wanted them, in all of their natural beauty.”

Looking back, the bride’s most cherished memories were incorporating pieces of her parents into her big day.
“Wearing my mother’s veil from her wedding was so special. We had it professionally cleaned and turned it into a combed veil,” the bride reminisced. “The father/daughter dance was among the most memorable moments for me as well.”
The Proposal:
We got engaged at Lowry Park Zoo, which was where we had one of our first dates together. Michael proposed in a photo booth, so we had some pictures capturing the moment.
What did you look for in a wedding photographer?
I wanted a photographer I was comfortable with, and who would capture traditional and beautiful photos.
I want to learn more about Preferred Wedding Photographers.
I read many reviews before I chose Kristen Marie Photography. As soon as I met her, I knew I had chosen the right photographer for us. She captured the most amazing sunset background for our engagement photos, and I loved her personality and how she interacted with us. I knew we would be using a lot of sky, sunset, and ocean backgrounds, and she captured all of those exactly as I wanted them, in all of their natural beauty. Kristen went well above and beyond my expectations. Every person in our wedding party enjoyed working with her. She was very responsive and accommodating, and she was not over-priced or didn’t push any additional services that I did not want.
How would you describe your theme?
As soon as I chose my venue, I immediately knew I wanted an Old Florida themed wedding. The room in the museum with the green bench is what gave me the idea, and I elaborated on the Old Florida theme as much as I could.
What were your colors?
I tried to not just choose certain colors, but more tropical colors: different shades of pink, fuchsia, orange, and greens. We added a touch of gold, as well.
