Annie and Blake’s tropical-inspired destination St. Pete wedding was the epitome of classic old-Florida charm and romance. With a color palette of pink, green and gold and hints of yellow and orange, the bride and groom tied in their lush theme throughout their wedding details.
“We love to be outdoors and in nature,” the couple shared. “The venue was reminiscent of a jungle and a source for much of the wedding design and inspiration.”

Planning their destination Florida wedding from Washington D.C., the couple knew the importance of hiring a St. Pete wedding planner with an attention for detail.
“Southern Glam Wedding and Events was a first choice for us because Annie actually went to school with Meagan. She knew the type of person Meagan is and that definitely was the right choice for us,” Blake shared. “We could not have been happier with the level of service we received. Looking back, the couple reminisced that writing personal vows to each other was one of the most memorable aspects of their wedding day.
“Exchanging our vows that we worked so hard on and just having the gathering of our closest friends and family was so important to us,” Annie reminisced.
The Proposal:
Blake surprised me with a supposed night out for dinner and a play at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. After dinner, while walking on the sky terrace, Blake popped the question overlooking the Washington Monument and Georgetown at sunset. There was a photographer standing by to capture the moment!
What did you look for in a wedding planner?
Someone with attention to detail. We needed someone to think of the things we didn’t.

What were your colors?
Pink, green, gold with hints of yellow and orange, to keep with the theme of tropical/old Florida charm.
How did you incorporate you and your spouse’s personalities into the wedding?
We are both fun loving and quirky people with a sense of humor. We are also very close to our friends and family. With this in mind, we kept the wedding relatively small and intimate, while working in things that were meme-worthy.
What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
It helps to have a vision, create Pinterest boards, and make sure the vendors are people you see yourself wanting to work with and who want to work with you. There are so many people to choose from, and you really can find people that align with your personality and vision.
